THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF NUECES CITY OF CORPUS Ct19ISTI On this the day of December, 1954, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, convened in /�- �+,"t+.lec��.� meeting, with the following members of said Council present, to -wit: P. C. Callaway, Mayor, 'nllroy Ling, J. S. Nsismith, Commissioners, Frank Peterson, W. James Brace, T. Ray ::ring, Cimy Secretary, Russell E. I•:cClure, City imager, I. K. Singer, City Attorney, and with the following absent: constituting a quorum, at which time the following among other business was transacted: JJ �— Mr. ii to a .c presented for the consideration of the Council a resolution. The resolution was read by the ay Secretary. The Mayor presented to the Council a communication in writing pertaining to said proposed resolution, as follows: Corpus Christi, Te::as, December %d"-, 1954. Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of tc_e foregoing resolution, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or reaolutio shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of he City Council. I there- fore hereby request that you susaend said Charter rule or requirement and adopt this resolution finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council. Commissioner / e g made a notion that the Charter provisions prohibiting resolutions from being passed finally on the date introduced be suspended for the reesors stated in the written reauest of the Kayor and stated in the emergency clause of the resolution. The motion was seconded by Sir. The notion saes carried by unanimous vote by the City Council, viz.. AYES: Commissioners King, I'eismith, Peterson and Brace. MM MS, the -'ity Council of she City of Corpus Ohristi, Texas, has under consideration the sale of its Sewer Iuproveuent and Extension ?revenue Bonds, Series 1954, more particularly described in the Official Offer- ing of the City, and maturinG serially throughout the years 1955 to 19C-4, both inclusive, as shown in such Official Offering; and WHEREAS, after having received and considered all of the offers, the City Council considers the offer of (hereinafter called the "Syndicate "), as the highest and best bid, which bid is par and accrued interest to date of delivery, plus a 9remium of $ ���/ 00 c , for the bonds to bear interest at rates as follows: Bonds maturing in the years 1955 to ig both incl., per annum; Bonds maturing in the years 197&to 1 per annum; i3e4m. and WHEREAS, it is considered to be to the best interest of the City that said bid be accented; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: 1. That the bid of said Syndicate for said bonds, being a bid of mar and accrued interest to date of delivery, plus e cremium of �i 00 be and she sage is hereby accepted. 2. That the 1:ayor, City �ecretsry and City Treasurer be and they are hereby ordered and directed to do eny and all thinfs necessary to complete the delivery of said 'ponds to the said Syndicate in accordance with the bid and the receiving of the money for the benefit of the City. 3. The fact that the contemplated use of the proceeds of the Sewer Improvement end E:-tension Revenue Bonds are necessary for the orde-ly development and growth of the City of Corers Christi, Texas, creates a public emergency and an iwperative public necessity requiring the suspensioc of the Charter Rule providing that no ordinance or resolution stall be passed f_nally on the date it is inu_^oduced, and that such ordicance or resolution shall be read at three several wee-cings of uhe City Council and the 14ayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested thatsaid Charter Rule be suspended and that this resolvtio take effect and be in fall Force and effect from and after its adoption, it is accordingly so resolved.
