O _ .. .+ .�i- s.,..,.......,,.,�. . r .....a ..R °-E- 5-O' L U- T I "0`N:, ­-«... , .., . •.`-,- .....»n.....,�,r - w.,«w,.,< <+...._. -.�w -- ...-.- WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Nueces County and -, the ; Citylof- Corpus- Christi; -Texas= have'heretofore - e - agreed upon and embarked upon a general road program for the City of Corpus Christi and the County of Nueces, in- corporating therein both the City's and County's share in the overall projected road program for Nueces County, in- cluding a system of expressways and freeways through cer- tain portions of the City of Corpus Christi and Nueces ' County and a multi -lane crossing of U. S. Highway 181 of Corpus Christi Ship Channel; and, ' WHEREAS, the State Highway Commission of Texas by Minute Order Number 36687 passed September 28, 1954, ten- dered to the City of Corpus Christi, and Nueces County,, Texas certain proposals relative to the construction of the new multi -lane crossing of U. S. Highway 181 of Corpus Christi Ship Channel; and, WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi and the County of Nueces feel that in furtherance of the agreements pre- viously reached between themselves and the State Highway Department relative to the general road program of the City and County, it will be to the benefit of the local- ity and the citizens therein to accept such Minute Order as a tentative proposal for the first increment of advance planning work as a basis for future formal agreements: HE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that such Minute Order Num- bar 366B7 passed September 28, 1954 be, and the same here-' by is accepted by tthe City of Corpus Christi and the County of Nueces, Texas. i� THE NECESSITY FOR ADOPTING THE FOREOING RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY TO COOPERATE WITH OTHER LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL UNITS IN THE HIGHWAY AND EXPRESSWAY PROJECT CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN • IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINA14CE OR RESOLUTION SHALL DE PASSED FINALLY ON 1F1F11++ Fob -� THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION, AND' THAT SAID ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY EXIST, AND RE- QUESTED THAT SAID CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED, AND THAT THIS RESOLUTION BE PASSED FINALLY 014 THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION: AND TAME EFFECT AND BE IN - FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGES IT IS SO RESOLVED; THIS THE A / DAY OF DECEHBER, 19511. '�.—w_ Con Christi, Texas X , 1954 TO THE METERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentleman: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist -for the suspen- sion of the - Charter Rule or requirement that no ordinanceLor resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that.auch ordinance or resolution sha11 be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
