REDUCING APPROPRIATIONS MADE FOR THE USE OF THE
WATER DIVISION CF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC UTILI-
TIES UPON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE CITY MANAGER,
ITEMIZING SUCH CHANCES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, There remains certain encumbered balances of certain
appropriations heretofore made in accordance with the requirements of
the city budget for the fiscal year August 1, 1954 to July 31, 1955,
and it is desirable to reduce such appropriations; and
WHEREAS, The City Manager has made a written recommendation
recommending such changes, transfers and reductions:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the appropriations heretofore made of the
items shown in the city budget heretofore adopted by the City Council
for the fiscal year August 1, 1954 to July 31, 1955, be, and the same
are hereby reduced in the several items and in the several respective
amounts as follows:

SECTION 2. That the appropriation ordinance heretofore adopted
by the City Council, be, and the same is hereby amended so as to con-
form to the items herein reduced.
SECTION 3. The necessity for reducing certain appropriations
as promptly as possible creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity, requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro-
- duction, and that said ordinance shell be read at three (3) several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such
emergency and imperative public necessity exists, and having requested
said Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally
on the date of its introduction, and that this ordinance take effect and
be in full force and effect from and after its pasaage, IT IS SO ORDAINED.

FOREGOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMFRGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST
FOR THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTEP RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORD NANCE
OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT 15 INTRODUCED,
AND THAT SUCH OPDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS
7f THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID
CHAPTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE
IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
