HomeMy WebLinkAbout04021 ORD - 01/05/1955AN ORDINANCE REDUCING APPROPRIATIONS MADE FOR THE USE OF THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS AND DIVISIONS OF THE GENERAL FUND UPON THE RECOMMENDATION CF THE CITY MANAGER, PTEMIZING SUCH REDUCTIONS; AND DECIAR;NG AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, There remains certain encumbered balances of certain appropria- tions heretofore made in accordance with the requirements of the city budget for the fiscal year August 1, 1954 to July 311 1955, and it is desirable to reduce such appropriations; and - WHEREAS, The City Manager has made a written recommendation recommending such changes, transfers and reductions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TIM CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXP.S: SECTION 1. That the appropriations heretofore made of the items shown in the city budget heretofore adopted by the City Council for the fiscal year August 1, 1954 to July 31, 1955, be, and the same are hereby reduced in the several items and in the several respective amounts as follows; AND THE AMOUNTS OF SUCH REDUCTIONS ARE HEREBY RESTORED TO THE FUIID BALANCE UNAPPROPRIATED OF THE GENERAL FUND. That the appropriation ordinance heretofore adopted by the City Council, be, and the same is hereby amended so as to conform to the items herein reduced. SECTION 3. The necessity for reducing certain appropriations as promptly as possible creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity, re- quiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and that said ordinance shall be read at three (3) several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and imperative public necessity exists, and having requested said Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS SO ORDAINED.
