DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, it is neceseary to appropriate an additional $17,048.60 to
complete said project:
NOW TREREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED By THE CITY COURCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated an additional amount of
$17,048.60 out of No. 202 City of Corpus Christi Waterworks System Construction
Fund to cover the cost of changes listed below in connection with the project being
carried out by C. H. Leavell & Company and Coastal Bend Construction Company, a
joint venture, of E1 Paso, Texas, in connection with construction of the 0. N.
Stevens Water Filtration Plant:

TOTAL amount of changes:- $17,048.60
SECTION 2. That the necessity for making an additional appropriation
of funds in order that the installation of changes in drain lines, pipe line to
water screens, drainage culverts, concrete columns, floor- surfacing compound in
Chemical Building and brick to complete the 0. N. Stevens Water Filtration Plant creates
a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency
and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and

such ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, 1T IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, this the day of
January, 1955•

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE
FOREGOING OPDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST
FOR THE SUSPCNSION OF THE CHARTER. RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDNANCE
O? RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED,
AND THAT SUCH OPDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ.AT THREC MEETINGS
