APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $12,133 TO THE PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADDITIONAL
COST OF CERTAIN MUNICIPAL SERVICES RESULTING
FRCM THE INCREASE IN SIZE OF THE AREA TO BE
SERVED; ESTIMATING ADDITIONAL REVENIES; AND DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, It is necessary to provide municipal services for
a larger area than anticipated by the budget for the current fiscal year:
NON, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated to the Public
Works Department from Number 102 Current Fund the sum of $12,133, said
sum to be distributed to the Garbage Collection Division and the Inspec-
tion Section as follows:
GARBAGE COLLECTION
A Salaries and Wages $ 6,051
OF Insurance and Bonds 200
XB Motor Vehicles 3,350
TOTAL $ 9,601
INSPECTION SECTION
A Salaries and Wages $ 2,082,
CB faire of Equipment 450
TOTAL $ 2,532
TOTAL APPROPRIATIONS $ 12,133
SECTION 2. That funds to support this appropriation shall be
not heretofore appropriated
obtained from additional revenues/as follows:
Garbage Collection Fees $ 9,672
Building Permits 1,400
Electrical Permits 5GO
Plumbing Permits 600
TOTAL REVENIES $ 12,172
SECTION 3. That the ordinance adopting the budget and the ap-
propriation ordinance heretofore adopted by the City Council for the fiscal
year beginning August 1, 1954 and ending July 31, 1955, be, and the same are
hereby amended so as to conform to the items contained herein.

SECTION 4• That the necessity for making an additional .•
appropriation of funds to provide municipal services for the annexed
areas creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity, re-
quiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and that said
ordinance shall be read at three (3) several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and imperative public
necessity exists, and having requested said Charter rule be suspended, and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and
that this ordinance take effect and be in hill force and effect from and
after its passage, IT IS SO ORDAINED.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING'
ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID'CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS
THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
