WHEREAS, by Ordinance No 3942, passed and approved on the 17th
day of November, 1954, there was appropriated the sum of $164,506.93 out of No.
297 Sanitary Sewer System Bond Improvement Fund for the construction of sanitary
sewer laterals, 1953 Bond Program, by T. H. Lee, Contractor, of Corpus Christi,
Texas;
WHEREAS, it is necessary to appropriate an additional $2,602.30
for the purpose of deepening four lines to serve approximately 40 acres:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED 13Y THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRIS'T'I, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated an additional amount
of $2,602.30 out of No. 297 Sanitary Sewer System Bond Improvement Fund to cover
the cost of deepening four lines to serve approximately four'acres in connection
with the project being carried out by T. H. Lee, Contractor, of Corpus Christi,
Texas in connection with construction of Sanitary Sewer Laterals, 1953 Bond
Program.
SECTION 2. That the necessity for making an additional appro-
priation of funds in order that the construction of Sanitary Sewer Laterals,
1953 Bond Program, may be completed creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter role that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist,
having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
PASSED AND APPROVED, this the _day of January), 1955.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE
FOREGOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST
FOP. THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORD NANCE
OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED,
AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS
OF TYE CITY COUNCILS 1, THFREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID
CHAPTER RULE OR REQUIREMCNT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE
IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
