AN ORDINANCE ;° •.. - AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON OF THE'CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, "TO E&ECUTE "".,"`.• ""°"` .' .� •''` r " "� A CONTRACT WITH BURNETT CONSTRUCTION CQ14PANY FOR THE ERECTION OF A DRILL TOWER LOCATED ON THE SITE OF FIRE STATION §7 BOUNDED BY IMBER ROAD, DODDRIDGE STREET AND SOUTH STAPLES STREET; APPROPRMATING $45,34o.00 FROM 1212 FIRE STATION BOND CONSTRUCTION FUND, BEING $44,340.00 FOR CONTRACTOR'S SERVICES AND $1,000.00 FOR CONTINGENCIES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAIN :D BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: - .. SECTION 1. That the City Manager for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi be authorized and directed to execute a contract with Burnett Construc- tion Company for the erection of a drill tower located on the site of Fire Station #7 bounded by Weber Road, Doddridge Street and South Staples Street, a copy of which con- tract is filed in the City Secretary's office and made a part hereof by reference. SECTION P. That for such erection there is hereby appropriated Forty -Five Thousand Three Hundred and Forty Dollars ($45,340.00) from #212 Fire Station Bond Construction Fund, being $44,340.00 for Contractor's services and $1,000.00 for contingencies. SECTION 3• That the unexpended balance of aforesaid $1,000.00 appropriation for contingencies on April 30, 1955, shall revert to the fund for which it was appropriated, and further provided that no funds shall be paid out of the contingency fund hereby appropriated, except with the approval of the City Council on motion passed by a majority of the Council. 4 , SECTION 4. That the necessity for providing better public protection by erection of said drill tower creates a public emergency and an imperative public nec- essity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no ordinance or resolu- tion shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested that such Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduc- tion and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, TT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
