WHEREAS, in furtherance of the general road program for the
City of Corpus Christi and the County of Nueces, including a sys-
tam of expressways and freeways through certain portkons of the
City of Corpus Christi and Nuaces County, heretofore embarked
upon by the said City and County, the State Highway Commission
of Texas passed Minute Order Humber 37511, dated January 5, 1955,
providing that upon acceptance of such Minute Order by the City
and County, the State Highway Engineer will be directed to pro-
ceed with detail surveys and the preparation of right -of -way
data on State Highway 358 for delivery to the local authorities
for a minimum 250' right -of -way on which an expressway can be de-
veloped by stages as traffic warrants and funds become available,
and
WHEREAS, such Minute Order Number 37511 further states that
it is now contemplated by the State Highway Department to con-
struct two additional traffic lanes, as the first stage in the
project development, and
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi and the County of
Nuaces recognize that the present traffic facility is totally
inadequate to serve the needs of this fast growing residential
area, the Naval Air Station and the Padre Island recreational
facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that such Minute Order 37511
of the State Highway Commission passed January 5, 1955, be, and
the same hereby is accepted by the City of Corpus Christi and
the County of Nueces.

CHRISTI AND THE COUNTY OF NUECES CONCERNING THE ACQUISITION OF RIONT— OF-WAY
FOR THE PR04CCTO MENTIONED HEREIN CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE
PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE

OR RESOLUTION SMALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SMALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE
CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO
EXIST, REQUESTING THE SUSPENSION OP SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND DE IN
FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED

ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE,
HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID'CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS
THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT INC PRESENT MEETIND
