HomeMy WebLinkAbout04127 ORD - 02/02/19551mc/2/2/55 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $2,000.00 FROM NO. 220 STREET BOND IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI'S SHARE OF THE COST OF ENGINEER- ING SERVICES 1EIID00 BY HARRINGTON AND CORTELYOU 13 CONNECTION WITH BASCULE BRIDGE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Nueces County Navigation District No. 1 has entered into a contract with the firm of Harrington and Cortelyou to negotiate a contract with the United States Government for the removal of the Basoule Bridge; and WHEREAS, this undertaking has been a joint project of the -local governing bodies; and WHEHEAS, it is agreed that the City should share in the cost of this con- tract; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE C= OF CORPUS f CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $2,000.00 from No. 220 Street Bond laTrovement Fund for the City of Corpus Christi's share of the cost of engineering services rendered by Harrington and Cortelyou in negotiating a contract with the Secretary of the Army for the relocation of the Bascule Bridge. SECTION 2. The fact that it is necessary for these engineering services to be rendered creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such public emergency and imperative public necessity exist, haying requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
