HomeMy WebLinkAbout04162 ORD - 03/16/1955AN ORDINANCE ATTENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937, APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS, AS AMENDED FROM TINE TO TINE AND PARTICULARLY AS MENDED BY ORDI- iVANCE NO. 2266 PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 4TH DRAY OF r;iAY, 1948, .APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLU1r1E 16, PAGES 339 ET SEQ OF THE ORDI1ANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS, BY AMENDING THE ZON- ING INAP ADOPTED Oil THE 4TH DAY OF MAY, 1948 BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOT 10, BLOCK 1, JOHN JONES _ADDITION NO. 2, FRO14 "R -1" SINGLE FAMILY D4ELLING DISTRICT TO "B -3" SECONDARY BUSINESS DISTRICT; KEEPING IN EFFECT ALL OTHER PROVISIONS OF THE EXISTING ORDINANCE AS AMENDED, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CON- FLICT HERE'"M H: AND DECLARING Ail EhERGENCY. .iHEREAS, The Zoning and Planning Commission has for'aarded to the City Council its reports and recom- mendation concerning certain applications for amendment to the 'Zoning Map of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, Public Hearings have been duly held, at which hearings all persons dishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the same before the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in accordance Faith proper notice to the Public; and lHEREAS, By motion duly made, seconded and carried at its meeting March !G, 1955, after the conclusion of the hearings, it was decided by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth amendment Mould best serve public health, necessity and convenience, and the general welfare of the City and its citizens; N0J, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTICN 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City Corpus Christi, passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing of record in Volume 9, pages 565 et seq of the Ordinance and Resolution Records, as amended from time to J time and in particular as amended by Ordinance No. 2266, passed and approved by the City Council on the 4th day of P�Ilay, 1948, appearing of record in Volume 16, pages 339 et seq of said Ordinance and Resolution Records, be and the same is hereby, amended by making the changes hereinafter set out. SECTION 2. That the zoning of that tract of land described as Lot 10, Block 1, John Jones Addition, an addition to the City of Corpus Christi, be changed from "R -1" Single Family Dvoelling District to "B -3" Secondary Business District. SECTION 3. That the official zoning map of the City of Corpus Christi be, and the same is, hereby amended as herein ordained. SECTION 4. That the zoning ordinance and map of the City of Corpus Christi, approved on the 27th day of August, 1937, as amended from time to time and particularly as amended on the 4th day of May, 1948, except as herein changed shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordi- nances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 6. That the necessity of immediately mark- ing the afore said changes for the purposes of maintaining at all times a comprehensive zoning ordinance for the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and an im- perative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or-resolution shall be read at three several meet- ings of the City Council, and the ivlayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such —2— ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, This the day of ;march, 1955.
