GOLLIHAR ROAD AND RELOCATING THE SAME IN
WHAT IS KNOWN AS CULLEN PLACE UNIT II, A
SUBDIVISION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, AND A CERTAIN PARK
AREA BELONGING TO THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS, ADJACENT THERETO, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Permanent Homes, Inc., has petitioned the
Mayor and City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
to close certain portions of Gollihar Road, and to relocate
the same where said road crosses what is known as Cullen
Place Unit II, a subdivision in the City of Corpus Christi,
Nueces County, Texas, and a certain park area belonging to
the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, adjacent thereto; and
WHEREAS, it appears that petitioner proposes to close
the following portion of Gollihar Road, a designated but never
opened or used 40 -foot County Road, the portion of Gollihar
Road sought to be closed beginning at the South or Southeast
right -of -way line of Airline Road and extending 2640 feet in
a Southeasterly direction to a point where same intersects the
Southeast boundary line of Section 14, of the Flour Bluff &
Encinal Farm 8 Garden Tracts, and being better described as a
20 -foot strip of land on either side of the common boundary
lines between Lots 15 and 18, Lots 13 and 20, and Lots 12 and
21, Section 14, of the Flour Bluff & Encinal Farm 8 Garden
Tracts, except for that portion of said Gollihar Road which
merges with and becomes a part of what is known as Hugo Drive
in Cullen Place Unit II, as shown by map and plat of said sub-
division heretofore approved by the Zoning and Planning
Commission of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, which said
Hugo Drive is to be a 50 -foot thoroughfare, dedicated to the
public for street purposes; and
WHEREAS, it appears that said dedicated 50 -foot Hugo
Drive substantially parallels the said Gollihar Road, and
that the public welfare, convenience and necessity will be
better served by closing Goll1W Road, save and except

where it coincides with the said Hugo Drive, without, how-
ever, abandoning, changing or altering existing easements
along the said Gollihar Road; and
WHEREAS, notice of the proposed revising, closing and
re- locating of the said Gollihar Road has been given by pub-
lication and by mail to the last known addresses of all
property owners abutting said road and within four hundred
fifty (450) feet thereof, and of the hearing to be held
thereon on the 11th day of May, 1955, or as soon thereafter
as the Council can hear and consider the same; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the notice given as
above set forth, and with the applicable provisions of the
City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a public
hearing was held by the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, at j o'clock, YCI. M., on the _LL day of
May, 1955, at the Council Chamber at the City Hall:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Section 1.
That Gollihar Road, beginning at the South or South-
east right -of -way line of Airline Road and extending 2640 feet
in a Southeasterly direction to a point where same intersects
the Southeast boundary line of Section 14, of the Flour Bluff
& Encinal Farm & Garden Tracts, and being better described as
a 20 -foot strip of land on either side of the common boundary
line between Lots 15 and 18, Lots 13 and 20, and Lots 12 and
21, Section 14, of the Flour Bluff & Encinal Farm & Garden
Tracts, be and the same is hereby closed, save and except
where the said Gollihar Road coincides with and becomes a part
of and is re- located to become a part of what is known as Hugo
Drive, in Cullen Place Unit II, a subdivision to the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, without, however, abandoning, changing
or altering existing easements along the said Gollihar Road,

GENTLEMEN:
FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING
ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT 15 INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; P, THEREFORE
HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS
THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
