ALAMEDA DRIVE AND AIRLINE ROAD, AND DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, F. William Carr, Guy I. Warren, Jack Modesett
and Permanent Homes, Inc., have petitioned the Mayor and City
Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, to close Paloma
Street between Alameda Drive and Airline Road, and it appear-
ing to the Council that said portion of Paloma Street
constitutes a designated but never opened or used 40 -foot
county road described as follows:
That section of Paloma Street between the South
right -of -way of Alameda Drive south of southwest
to the east or northeast right -of -way line of Airline
Road, furthermore described as a 40 -foot strip of
land lying 20 feet on either side of the common line
of Lot 8, Section 2, and Lot 1, Section 14, of the
Flour Bluff and Encinal Farm and Garden Tracts, save
and except that portion that lies within the right -
of -way of Alameda Drive and Airline Road,
and it appearing to the Council that substantially parallel
paved streets are being provided by Permanent Homes, Inc., in
what is known as Cullen Place Unit IV which will better serve
the public than the unopened and unused said portion of Paloma
Street; and,
WHEREAS, notice of the proposed closing of said portion
of Paloma Street has been given by publication and by mail to
the last known addresses of all property owners abutting said
road and within four hundred and fifty (450) feet thereof, and
of the hearing to be held thereon on the 2ND day of
NOVEMBER , 1955, or as soon thereafter as the Coun-
cil might hear and consider the same; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with the notice given as above
set forth, and in accordance with the applicab.be provisions of
the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a public
hearing was held by the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, at a -pct otclock P.M. on the 2ND day of
NOVEMBER. , 1955, at the Council Chamber at the City

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Section 1.
That Paloma Street, where the same intersects the
south boundary line of Alameda Drive and the east boundary
line of Airline Road, and being particularly described as fol-
lows:
That section of Paloma Street between the South
right -of -way of Alameda Drive south or southwest to
the east or northeast right -of -wa line of Airline
Road, furthermore described as a �0 -foot strip of
land lying 20 feet on either side of the common line
of Lot S, Section 2, and Lot 1, Section 14, of the
Flour Bluff and Encinal Farm and Garden Tracts, save
and except that portion that lies within the right -
of -way of Alameda Drive and Airline Road,
be and the same is hereby closed.
Section 2.
The fact that public convenience and necessity will
be better served by the immediate closing of the aforesaid por-
tion of Paloma Street creates a public emergency and public
Imperative necessity, requiring the suspension of the charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolu-
tion shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council;
and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and
imperative public necessity exists, and having requestdd that
such charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be pass-
ed finally on the date of its introduction, and take effect and
be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS, ACCORDINGLY, ORDERED, PASSED AND APPROVED, this

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the-Charter role or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
he passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I. therefore,
hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass
this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting
of the City Council,
