AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING
AUGUST 1, 1957 AND ENDING JULY 31, 1956 BY ADJUSTING
THE ESTIMATE OF TOTAL REVENUES FROIA 110,9uP,7 .00
TO ^'$11,043,545.00; AND BY ADJUSTING THE TOTAL—APPRO-
PRIATIONS FROM $10.799.422.00 TO M.946.640.00
ACCORDING TO THE SCHEDULES ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE
A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, THE TOTAL ACCRUING REVENUE OF THE CITY IS IN EXCESS OF
THE ESTIMATED INCOME FROM CERTAIN SOURCES AND THE ACCRUING REVENUE IS LESS
THAN THE ESTIMATED INCOME OF SUCH SOURCES AND IT IS NECESSARY TO AMEND AND
ADJUST THE OUDGET IN ACCORDANCE WITH MORE TRULY EXACT FIGURES THAN THE
ESTIMATES USED AT THE TIME OF THE ADOPTION OF THE BUDGET ON JULY 27, 1955:
NaJ, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CURRENT BUDGET ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 4294
BE, AND THE SAME 15 HEREBY AMENDED IN THE FOLLOWING PARTICULARS: THAT THE
ESTIMATE OF TOTAL REVENUES BE ADJUSTED FROM $910,933,790.00 To $11,043,545.00,
AND THAT THE TOTAL APPROPRIATIONS BE ADJUSTED FROM $1o,759,422.00 TOs10,946,64o.00,
AND THAT SUCH ADJUSTMENT BE REFLECTED IN THE ITEMS AND ACCORDING TO THE SCHEDULES
ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 2• THAT THE SAID NUDGET BE CORRECTED AMENDED AND
ADJUSTED SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE APPROPRIATIONS THEREIN SHALL BE IN ACCORD-
ANCE WITH THE ABOVE AND FOREGOING SCHEDULES.
SECTION 3. THAT THE NECESSITY FOR PROVIDING A SUFFICIENT BUDGET
CORRECTED WITH THE :LOST ACCURATE ITEMS AND AMOUNTS ATTAINABLE FOR THE GUIDANCE
OF THE OPERATION OF THE CITY DURING ITS CURRENT FISCAL YEAR CREATES A PUBLIC
EMERGENCY AND All IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY, REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF
THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON
THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION, AND THAT SAID ORDINANCE SHALL BE READ AT THREE
SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCILS AND THE 1 °tAYOR HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH
EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY EXISTS AND HAVING REQUESTED SAID
CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED, AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE
DATE OF ITS 1NTRODUCTION, AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL
FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGES IT IS ACCORDINGLY 50 ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
he passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council, I, therefore,
hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass
this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting
of the City Council.
