TEXAS:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. THAT THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF $8,775.00
OUT OF NO. 209 STREET TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM BOND IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE
PURPOSE OF INSTALLING 250 STOP SIGNS AT AY13.50 EACH FOR AN AMOUNT OF $3f375.00
(OF WHICH p1,125.00 IS FOR LABOR AND $2,250.00 IS FOR MATERIAL); AND LIDO SPEED
ZONE SIGNS AT $12.00 EACH FOR AN AMOUNT OF o'51I100.00 (OF WHICH $11800.00 IS
FOR LABOR AND $3,600.00 IS FOR MATERIAL), A LIST OF THE LOCATIONS OF SAID
SIGNS TO BE INSTALLED BEING ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF.
SECTION 2. THAT THE INSTALLATION OF SAID SIGNS SHALL BE DONE BY
CITY FORCES.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY FOR CONTROLLING TRAFFIC WITHIN THE CITY
LIMITS CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQVI ING
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE
PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESO-
LUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE
MAYOR, DECLARING SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST,HAVING REQUESTED THE
SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT
FRO A AFTER, ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, THIS THE

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the..Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
he passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass
this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting
of the City Council.

I. The traffic signs oovered in tie Appropriation ordiasnao are far the
planned progrsa of roplasing sub - standard signs and the initial sign-
ing of through streets as required by State lew..
2. All through streets and high" are regaired to be protected by
step signs aeeording to !tats law,
j. 111 traffic signs set in the future, other than those mentioned above,
will be sot only after a traffic survey and study of the location.
Only the proper sign to fit the Conditions Will be used.
4. It is our intention further, to review the sign installations now
installed where their need or type to in question and use only the
type noeesaw7j based on an anginserirW, twestigation of the losa-
tion.
