AN ORDINANCE
APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $8,000.00 OUT OF THE UN-
APPROPRIATED FUND BALANCE OF NO. 108 STREET FUND
TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT FOR THE STREET DIVISION OF
THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS
SECTION 1. THAT THERE 15 HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF $8,000.00
OUT OF THE UNAPPROPRIATED FUND BALANCE OF N0. 108 STREET FUND, WHICH HAS ACCRUED
FROM EXCESS OF REVENUE OVER ESTIMATED REVENUE AS SHOWN IN THE CITY BUDGET, FOR
THE PURPOSE OF ACQUIRING WORKING EQUIPMENT FOR THE STREET DIVISION OF THE PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT AS MAY BE REQUIRED, WHICH WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE COUNCIL
FOR APPROVAL, PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE OF SUCH EQUIPMENT.
SECTION 2. THE NECESSITY FOR PROVIDING FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF
EQUIPMENT FOR THE STREET DIVISION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT CREATES A PUBLIC -
EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE
CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE
DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ
AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED
THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EY,IST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH

CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED, AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE
DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM
AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated in
the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City of

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the-Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolhtion shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council: I, therefore,
hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass
this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting
of the City Council.
