HomeMy WebLinkAbout04496 ORD - 04/11/1956TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADKINISTRATION OF THE CC 1PENSATION PLAN FOR ALL POSITIONS IN TIM; CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE" AIM BEING ORDINANCE NO. 63 56. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 10TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1954, AS AMENDED, BY AMMNDING SUBSECTION (d) OF SECTION 5 BY ADDING TO THE SPECIALIST'S PAY SCHEDULE SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS OF WARRANT OFFICER AND IDENTIFICATION OFFICER AND PROVIDING FOR PAY IN THE NEXT HIGHER SALARY GRADE DURING SUCH SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT; AND BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (a) OF SECTION 10 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT NO VACATION TDM SHALL BE GRANTED OR PAID AT TERMINATION UNLESS THE EI�PLCYEE TUTS BEEN RQLOYED FOR A PERIOD OF T DIE IN EXCESS OF SIX MONTHS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN IKERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTIODt 1. That Ordinance No. 3656 entitled "AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR TIIE ADMINISTRATIUN OF THE COITENSATION PLAN FOR ALL POSITIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE", passed and approved on the 10th day of February, 1954, as• amended, be amended by amending Subsection (d) of Section 5 by adding the following to the Specialist's Pay Schedule: Class Title Special Assignment Equivalent Salary Schedule Patrolman Warrant Officer Next higher salary schedule Patrolman Identification Officer Next higher salary schedule SECTION 2. That Subsection (a) of Section 10 of said Ordinance No. 3656, as amended, be amended by adding the following: "No vacation time shall be granted or paid at termination unless the employee has been employed for a period of time in excess of six months." SECTION 3. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance shall be held, for any reason, to be inoperative, void or invalid, the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance shall not be affected thereby, it being the intention of the City Council, in adopting this ordinance, that no portion thereof, or provision herein, shall become inoperative or fail by reason of the invalidity of any other portion or provision and the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, does hereby declare that it would have severally passed and adopted the provisions contained herein, separately and apart and from the other. 449b SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect as of SECTION 5. The necessity for malting amendments to the adminis- tration of the compensation plan creates a public emergency and a public imper- ative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three regular meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative public necessitiy exists, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect as herainabove provided, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
