AN ORDINANCE
PRESCRIBING THE TAXES TO BE LEVIED ASSESSED AND COLLECTED

PROVIDEII 0 ; AND DECLARING AN MdRGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORFUS CHRISTI,
SECTION I. That there is hereby levied, to be assessed and collected
in current money of the United States of America, for the use of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, for the Year 1956, and for each succeeding year thereafter,
until otherwise provided and ordained, an annual direct ad valorem tax of Eighty -
One and Three- Tenths Cents ($0.813) on each One Hundred Dollars ($100) value
thereof, on all property, real, personal, and mixed, located within the said City
of Corpus Christi, upon which a tax is authorized to be levied by law, and upon
all franchises of all individuals, partners, and corporations holding franchises
in the City from said City of Corpus Christi, Texas, said tax to be appropriated
to the payment and defrayment of current expenses of the Government of said City.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby levied to be assessed and collected
in current money of the United States of America, for the use of the City of Cor-
pus Christi, for the Year 1956, and for each succeeding year thereafter until
otherwise provided and ordained, an annual direct ad valorem tax of $0.227 on each
One Hundred Dollars ($100) of value thereof, upon all property and franchises des-
cribed in Section 1 of this Ordinance, said Tax to he appropriated and used in
making payments for General Street Improvements and building bridges in the City
Of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 3. That for the purpose of paying interest and providing the
necessary sinking Hinds for the payment of outstanding bonds and bonded indebt-
edness of the City of Corpus Christi, and for paying interest and making provi-
sions for the sinking fund of such future issues as may be authorized, there is
hereby levied for the Year 1956, and for each succeeding year thereafterA unless
otherwise provided and ordained, to be assessed and collected in current money of
the United States of America, upon all property and franchises described in Section
1 of this ordinance, an annual direct ad valorem tax of $0.50 on each One Hundred
Dollars ($100) of value thereof, which said taxes as and when the same shall be
collected, shall be appropriated and credited to the following bond interest and
sinking Binds of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas;
(1) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.024 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Refunding Bonds, Series
1936, dated February 1, 1936;
(2) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.004 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fluid to pay Municipal Auditorium
Bonds, Series 1950, dated January 15, 1950;
(3) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.021 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Municipal Auditorium
Bonds, Series 1950 -A, dated November 1, 1950;
(4) Out of said amount of $0,500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.006 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Police Building Bonds,
Series 1950, dated January 15, 1950;
(5) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.013 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Storm Sewer Bonds,
Series 1950, dated January 15, 1950;
(6) Out Of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.012 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Storm Sewer Bonds, Series
1950 -A, dated November 1, 1950;
(7) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.004 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Street Traffic Control System
Bonds, Series 1950, dated January 15, 1950;
(8) Out of said amount of $0,500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.010 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Public Library Bonds,
Series 1950, dated November 1, 1950;
(9) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.002 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Sanitary Sewer Improvement
and Extension Bonds, Series 1940, dated June 1, 1940;
(10) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.012 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Street Improvement Bonds,
Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941; M
(11) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.010 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay City Hall Bonds, Series 1950,
dated January 15, 1950;
(12) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.004 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Street Improvement Bonds,
Series 1950, dated January 15, 1950;

(13) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.010 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Street Improvement Bonds,
Series 1950..A, dated November 1, 1950;
(14) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.009 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking Hind to pay Hospital Bonds, Series 1941,
dated December 1, 1941;
(15) Out of said amount of $0,500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.001 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Park System Improvement Bonds,
Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941;
(16) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.003 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Public Park Bonds, Series
1950, dated January 15, 1950;
(17) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.004 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Public Park Bonds, Series
19504, dated November 1, 1950;
(18) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.003 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Fire Station Bonds, Series
1950, dated January 15, 1950;
(19) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.001 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Garbage Disposal Plant Bonds,
Series lgkl, dated December 1, 1941;
(20) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.004 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Sanitary and Storm Mater
Sewer Improvement Bonds, Series 1g41, dated December 1, 1941;
(21) Out of the amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.001 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Fire Department Bonds,
Series 1944, dated June 1, 1944;
(22) Out of the amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.003 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Airport Improvement Bonds,
Series 1948, dated June 1, 1948;
(23) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.003 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking fund to pay Park Bonds, Series 1948,
dated June 1, 1948;
(24) Out of the amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.008 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary Sinking fund to pay Storm Sewer Bonds, Series
1948, dated June 1, 1948;
(25) Out of the amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.007 for the purpose of paying interest and creating
the necessary sinking land to pay Sanitary Sewer Improve_
merit Bonds, Series 1948, dated June 1, 1948;

the necessary sinking fund to pay Airport Improvement
Bonds, Series 1951, dated September 1, 1951;
(30) Out of the said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.002 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Sanitary Sewer Improvement
Bonds, Series 1951, dated September 1, 1951;
(31) Out of said $mount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.002 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Storm Sewer Improvement Bonds,

(32) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.004 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Fire Station Bonds, Series

$0,003 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Public Park Bonds, Series 1952,
dated July 1, 1952;
(34) Out of the said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.020 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Storm Sewer Bonds, Series 1954,
dated February 1, 1954;
(35) Out of the said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.025 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Street Improvement Bonds,
Series 1954, dated February 1, 1954;
(36) Out of the said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.004 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Street Right.of_Way Bands,
Series 1954, dated February 1, 1954;
(37) Out of the said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.007 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Traffic Control System Bonds,
Series 1954, dated February 1, 1954;
(38) Out of the said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.010 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Fire Station Bonds, Series 1954,
dated February 1, 1954;

necessary sinking fund to pay Storm Sewer Bonds, Series

(40) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.007 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Traffic Control System Bonds,
Series 1954 -A, dated December 1, 1954;
(41) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.011 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay Street Improvement Bonds,
Series 1954 -A, dated December 1, 1954; and
(42) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.003,for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking hind to pay Fire Station Bonds, Series
1954-A, dated December 1, 1954; and
(43) Out of said amount of $0.500 there is hereby appropriated
$0.187 for the purpose of paying interest and creating the
necessary sinking fund to pay General Obligation Bonds,
Series 1955, dated December 1, 1955•
SECTION 4. All taxes for the Year 1956 hereby levied shall become
due and payable at the Office of the Tax Assessor - Collector of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, on or after the first day of October, 1956, and if the
taxes levied for said year are not paid on or before January 31st next after be-
coming due, interest shall be charged upon the gross amount of the taxes due
and penalty due until paid at the rate of one -half of one per cent (1/2 of 1%)
for each month or fraction thereof thereafter. Said interest shall be in addi-
tion to such penalties as may be hereafter provided for delinquent taxes.
SECTION 5. That the fact that the passage of an ordinance for the
levying of taxes for the City of Corpus Christi for the Year 1956 is necessary
and important to the people of the City and the further fact that the prepara-
tion and completion of the tax rolls of the City for the Year 1956 is dependent
upon the passage of this ordinance, and in order that said tax roll may be com-
pleted and ready for the collection of said taxes when the same become due and
payable as aforesaid, creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no resolution or
ordinance shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City

Council, and the Mayor, having declared sueh emergency and necessity to
exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter Rule and that this
ordinance he passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after the passage of same, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, This the day of July, A. D. 1956.

BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS
THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETfNG
OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
