WHEREAS, IT IS NECESSANY TO MOVE -AND REPLACE UTILITY LINES WITHIN
THE RIGHT OF WAY FOR THE NORTH AND SOUTH APPROACHES TO THE PROPOSED HIGH LEVEL
BRIDGE, AND IT IS EST114ATED THAT THE COST OF SUCH PROJECT, INCLUDING ENGINEERING
AND CONTINGENCIES, WILL BE: FOR GAS LINES ,34,446-50; FOR WATER LINES x,67,270.50;
AIJD FOR SEWER LINES y;15j,353.20; AND
WHEREAS, THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' COURT HAS APPROVED SUCH ESTIMATE
AND AGREED TO PAY SAID COSTS BY ORDER OF THE COMMISSIONERS' COURT OF NUECES COUNTY,
TEXAS, DATED JUNE 25, 1956; AIVD
WHEREAS, SIDS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED AND THE CITY COUNCIL HAS CONSIDERED
SAID BIDS AND IS OF THE OPINION THAT THE BID OF T. H. LEE, CONTRACTOR, IS THE MOST
ADVANTAGEOUS To THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AND THE PROPOSED AWARDING OF THE CON -
TRACT TO SAID T. H. LEE HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE SAID COUNTY OF NUECES:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BE,
AND HE IS, HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH T. H. LEE, CONTRACTOR, FOR THE FURNISHING OF EQUIPMENT
AND LABOR IN CONNECTION 4hITH THE REMOVAL AND REPLACING OF CITY UTILITY LINES WITHIN
THE i'IGHT OF WAY FOI@ THE NORTH AND SOUTH APPROACHES TO THE PROPOSED HIGH LEVEL
BRIDGE, IN ACCO ?.DANCE WITH PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE
IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY
REFERENCE.
SECTION 2. THAT THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF yi20,000.00
FROM N0. 109 SEWER FUND TO BE USED AS A REVOLVING FUND IN COMPLETING SAID PRO-
JECT AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $34,446.50 FOR GAS LINES, $67,270.50 FOR WATER LINES,
AND :,153,353.20 FOR SEWER LINES, WHICH COSTS, BY AGREEMENT OF THE COUNTY OF NUECES,
WILL BE REIMBURSED TO THE CITY AS SHOWN BY THE AGREEMENT AND ORDER OF I'IUECES COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS' COURT DATED JUNE 25, 16, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND
MADE A PANT HEREOF; APPROPRIATING ALL FUNDS 50 REIMBURSED TO THE CITY TO THE
PAYMENT OF THE COST OF SAID PROJECT AND DIRECTING THAT UPON COMPLETION THE SAID
SUM OF $20,000.00 HEREBY APPROPRIATED FROM N0. 109 SEWS it FUND BE RESTORED TO SAID
FUND AT THE TIME OF FINAL ACCEPTANCE.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY FOR PROMPT COMPLETION OF THE WORK CONTEMPLATED
IN SAID PROJECT CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE NECESSITY REQUIRING
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED
FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL

THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND DE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT
FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE.
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
PRICES QUOTED shall be based on a "Rate per Hour" and a "Rate
per Eight Hour Day."
ALL RATES SHALL INCLUDE:
Fuel, Lubricants, Operators, Oilers, Breakdown, Repairs, and
Transportation of all Operating Personnel, to and from Jobsite.
Rates to be paid for operating and working time of equipment and
personnel. Shutdown time will be considered that due to inclement
weather, breakdown of equipment, or conditions beyond the control
of the Contractor or the City, where equipment and /or personnel
are unable to operate.
ALL WORK TO BE LOCATED, within the City limits of Corpus Christi
and will consist of relaying sewers and construction of new sewers
due to highway interchanges.
CONTRACTORS SHALL FURNISH necessary rough cut pine, or oak, sheeting,
minimum two (2) inches thick, to required lengths, for use with
specified equipment, on the described job.
SHEETING is estimated at approximately 15,000 Bd.Ft. It is
understood that the City will reimburse the Contractor for
sheeting used, at a rate to be identified as indicated below.

Gentlemen:
Attached herato, is a letter from the Director of Public
Works, City ::i Corpus Christi, requesting that funds be
made available by the County for the cost of moving and
replacing City utility lines that encroach within the
right -of -ways of the North and South interchanges to the
High Level bridge across the Ship Channel. Allocations
to pay for the removal and replacing of these lines were
included in the County Bond Issue.
For your information the estimated cost of removing and
replacing all water, gas, and sewer mains in the North and
South approaches is as follows:

Since the Texas Highway Department has requested the City
of Corpus Christi to remove and relocate all utility lines
which fall within the North and South approaches, at an
early date, in order that they ru;ay let a contract for the
construction of the North Interchange as soon as possible,
it is therefore recommended that the necessary funds as
shown in the City's Estimate be set up and made available
to be paid as the work progresses, and that IF10,000.00 of
that amount Le deposited with the City immediately to purchase
necessary materials to begin work.

The foregoing estimate made by the City of Corpus Christi on the
cost of moving and replacing utility lines that encroach within the right -
of -way for the North and South Approaches to the proposed High Level Bridge
came on for the consideration of the Court and after careful consideration
and upon tite recoru endation of the County engineer, it was moved by Com-
missioner P1cKinzie, seconded by Commissione J Caldwell and unanimously
voted by the Commissioners Court that the said estimate submitted by
the City of Corpus Christi in the amount of 4"255,070.20 be accepted and
approved and in accordance with the request set out in said estimate the
County Auditor was authorized to deposit $10,000.00 as an advance on said
estimate with the City of Corpus Christi to purchase the necessary materials
for the project.
