HomeMy WebLinkAbout04720 ORD - 01/09/1957AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OFTHE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ADOPTED ON W 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937, APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS, AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME AND PARTICULARLY AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 2266 PASSER AND APPROVED ON THE 4TH DAY OF MAY, 1948, APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 16, PAGES 339 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND RE- SOLUTION RECORDS, BY AMENDING THE ZONING MAP ADOPTED ON THE 4TH DAY OF MAY, 1948, BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOTS 4 AND 5, BLOCK 63, BEACH PORTION, FROM "A -2" SECOND - APARTMENT HOUSE DISTRICT USE TO "B -2" BAYFRONT BUSINESS DISTRICT USE; AND BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOTS 53 -58, INCLUSIVE, BLOCK 817, PORT ARANSAS CLIFFS, BEGINNING 150' NORTH OF DODDRIDGE ON THE EAST SIDE OF SOUTH ALAMEDA STREET AND EXTENDING AN ADDITIONAL 150' BE CHANGED FROM "R -2" TWO- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT TO "B -1" NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT; KEEPING IN EFFECT ALL OTHER PROVISIONS OF THE EXISTING ORDINANCE AS AMENDED; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. MEREAS, The Zoning and Planning Commission has forwarded to the City Council its reports and recommendations concerning certain applications for amendment to the Zoning Map of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, Public Hearings were duly held at which hearings all persons wishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the same before the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, in accordance with proper noEice to the Public; and WHEREAS, By motion duly made, seconded and carried,it was decided by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth amendments would best serve public health, necessity and convenience, and the general welfare of the City and its citizens: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing of record in Volume 9, pages 565 et seq of the Ordinance and Resolution Records, as amended from time to time, and in particular as amended by Ordinance No. 2266, passed and approved by the City Council on the 4th day of May, 1948, appearing of record in Volume..16., Pages 339 etseq of said Ordinance and Resolution Records, be and the same is hereby amended by making the changes hereinafter set out. SECTION 2. That the Zoning ofthat tract of land described as Lots 4 and 5, Block 63, Beach Portion, being located between Fitzgerald & Resaca Streets at 1517 -21 W. Shoreline Drive be changed from "A -2" Second Apartment House District use-to "B -2" Bayfront 9-1z0 Business District use, as approved by the City Council on the 11th day of December, 1956. SECTION 3. That the Zoning of that tract of land described as Lots 53 -58, Inclusive, Block 817, Port Aransas Cliffs Addition, beginning 150' north of Doddridge on the East side of S. Alameda Street and extending an additional 150' be changed from "R -2" Two - Family Dwelling District use to "B -1" Neighborhood Business District use, approved by the City Council on the 25th day of Sept- ember, 1956. SECTION 4. That the official zoning map of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be, and the same is hereby amended as herein ordained. SECTION 5. That the zoning ordinance and map of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, approved on the 27th day of August, 1937, as amended from time to time and particularly as amended on the 4th day of May, 1945, except as herein changed shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 6. That all ordinances orparts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 7. That the necessity of immediately making the afore- said changes for the purpose of maintaining at all times a comprehensive zoning ordinance for the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its,.passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED ? r This the ay of } C4— 1 h , 1957.
