HomeMy WebLinkAbout04733 ORD - 01/30/1957AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH BUCCANEER DAYS COM- MISSION COVERING E EBIOD FI R FOR USE OF CERTAIN PORTIONS F CI PHO- ,D NEAR THE MUNICIPAL COLISEUM, WND AGREEING 10 ENLARGE THE PARKIATG LOT LOCATED IN MICA AN PARK FOR A DISTANCE F PPROX M 120 FEET T-0—ME SOUTH OF THE PRESENT PARKING LOT, FOR A CONSIDERATION OF $1,000.00 PAYABLE AT THE TIME OF THE EXECUTION OF THIS LEASE, AND THE SUM OF $1,000.00 PER ANNUM PAYABLE ON OR BEFORE THE ANNIVERSARY DATE OF SUCH LEASE, THE USE OF SAID GROUND NOT TO EXCEED EIGHT (8) DAYS DURING ANY CALENDAR YEAR OF THE LEASE TERM HEREOF, SAID ANNUAL PAYMENT OF $1,000.00 TO BE CONTINUED UNTIL A TOTAL OF 03,000.00 HAS BEEN PAID TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; PLEDGING THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID ADDITION TO_5riT_MK- ING LOT AT THE EXPENSE OF CITY WITH IMPROVEYENT TO BE COMPLETED FRIOR L 1 AUMORIZING THE IMPROVEMERM OF NG AREA IN MCCAUGHAN PARK ADJACENT M AND SO=F E FRESENT PARRTN=T WITH CITY FORCES, AC- CORDING TO PLAITS AND SPECIFICATIONS APPROVED BY THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS- APPROPRIATING AND REAPPROPRIATING THE SUM OF 66,000.00 E EMERGENCY AND NON- RECURRING AFFRUPHIATI OF THE 2 CURRENT FUND; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, to execute an agreement with Buccaneer Days Commission covering the period of five (s) years for the use of certain. portions of City Property located near the Municipal Coliseum, and agreeing to enlarge the parking lot located in McCaughan Park for a distance of approximately 120 feet to the south of the present parking lot, for a consideration of $1,000.00 pay- able at the time of the executing of this lease, and the sum of $1,000.00 per annum payable on or before the anniversary date of such lease, the use of said ground not to exceed eight (8) days during any calendar year of the lease term hereof, said. annual payment of 01,000.00 to be continued until a total of $3,000.00 has been paid. to the City of Corpus Christi, a copy of which agreement is attached. hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. That the cQnstruction of said addition to = U33 said parking lot shall be at the expense of the City of Corpus Christi with said improvement to be completed prior to April 15, 1957, and the Street Division of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, is hereby authorized and directed to improve the parking area in. McCaughan Park adjacent to and South of the present parking lot according to plans and specifications approved by the Director of Public Works. SECTION 3. That there is hereby appropriated and re- appropriated the sum of $6,000.00 from the Emergency and Non- recurring Appropriation. of the No. 102 Current Fund for the improvement of the parking area in. McCaughan Park. SECTION 4. The necessity for entering into the agree- ment described in Section 1 hereof creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and. the Mayor having declared. that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full. force and effect from and after its passage IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
