BE IT ORDAT M BY THE CITY COTNCII, OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, a contract with H.B. Zachny Construction Company for construction of the Brawner Parkway Connection to Carroll Lane, as set out in the plans, specifications and contract documents on file in the Office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference, and according to the bid of H.D. Zachry Construction Company, opened on the 23rd day of January, 1957, the said bid of H.D. Zachry Construction Company being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of 126,428.24 from No. 102 Current Fund for construction costs, of which $24,428.24 is for the contract and $2,000.00 is for engineering and contingencies, the sum of $7,180.009 being the proceeds from the sale of the improved land, to be reimbursed the City by the Corpus Christi Independent School District and deposited to No. 102 Current Fund. SECTION 3. The necessity for providing for street improvements connecting Brawner Parkway to Carroll lane creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity 4 -14� exist, and having requested that such Charter Rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORt7ADED.
