AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI A

RIGHT-OF-WAY, A COPY OF WHICH AGREEM IS A ACHED
HERETO AND NUDE A PART HEREOF):AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, THE STATE OF TEXAS HAS MADE IT KNOWN TO THE CITY THAT IT
WILL MAKE AVAILABLE TO THE CITY FOR USE AS PARKING FACILITY AREAS CERTAIN
AREAS WITHIN THE FREEWAY RIGHT -OF- AY LYING GENERALLY EAST OF LOWER BROAD-
WAY AND WEST OF SHORELINE BOULEVARD, AND THE CITY DESIRES TO PLACE IMPROVE-
MENTS WITHIN SAID AREAS FOR USE THEREOF AS PARKING FACILITY AREAS;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT SINCE THE PUBLIC CONVENIENCE, SAFETY AND NECES-
SITY WILL BE SERVED BY THE CONSTRUCTION OF PARKING FACILITY AREAS WITHIN
THE FREEWAY RIGHT -OF -WAY, THE CITY MANAGER 15 HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED
TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AN AGREEMENT WITH
THE STATE OF TEXAS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF SUCH
PARKING FACILITY AREAS, A COPY OF WHICH AGREEMENT IS ATTACHED HERETO AND
MADE A PART HEREOF.
SECTION 2. THE NECESSITY FOR EXPEDITING THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID
PARKING FACILITY AREAS AS PROMPTLY AS POSSIBLE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND
AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE
THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS
INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE
SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED THAT
SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, REQUESTING THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE
SUSPENDED AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT 15 INTRO-
DUCED AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS
PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. /
