AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937,
APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565 ET SEQ OF
THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS, AS AMENDED FROM
TIME TO TIME AND PARTICULARLY AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE
NO. 2266 PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 4TH DAY OF MAY,
1948, APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 16, PAGES 339 ET
SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS, AND AS
AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 4846 ADOPTED ON THE 21ST DAY
OF AUGUST, 1957, APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 26,
PAGES 385 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION
RECORDS, BY AMENDING ARTICLE XVIII BY ADDING SUBSECTION
1(o) SO AS TO PROVIDE A TIME LIMIT ON SUBDIVISION
DEVELOPMENT SALES OFFICES AND FORBID ANY SUCH OFFICE
WITHOUT A PERMIT AND BY ADDING SUBSECTION 1(E) SO AS
TO PROVIDE FOR USE OF AREAS IN A SUBDIVISION BEING
DEVELOPED FOR TEMPORARY STORAGE OF BUILDING MATERIALS
FOR LIMITED TIMES AND FORBIDDING SUCH USE WITHOUT A
PERMIT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS, PASSED ON THE 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937, APPEARING OF
RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION
RECORDS, AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME, AND IN PARTICULAR AS AMENDED BY
ORDINANCE N0. 2266, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 4TH
DAY OF MAY, 1948, APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 16, PAGES 339 ET SEQ
OF SAID ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS, AND AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE
N0. 4846, ADOPTED ON THE 21ST DAY OF AUGUST, 1957, APPEARING OF RECORD
IN VOLUME 26, PAGES 385 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS,
BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED BY ADDING TO ARTICLE XVIII OF SAID
ORDINANCE A SUBSECTION TO BE KNOWN AND DESIGNATED AS „SUBSECTION 1(D)_
AND BY ADDING TO SAID ARTICLE XVIII A SUBSECTION TO BE KNOWN AND DESIGNATED
AS "SUBSECTION 1(E) ", AS FOLLOWS:
ARTICLE XVIII.
ADDITIONAL USE, HEIGHT, AREA AND PARKING REGULATIONS AND EXCEPTIONS.
SECTION 1. USE.
"(D) DURING THE COURSE OF DEVELOPMENT OF NEW SUBDIVISIONS,
FIELD OFFICES FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTION AND SALE OF
HOUSES IN SAID SUBDIVISION, BUT NOT ELSEWHERE, MAY BE MAIN-
TAINED AND USED BY BONAFIDE BUILDERS FOR A PERIOD OF NOT TO
EXCEED ONE (1) YEAR, EXCEPT FOR THE RENEWAL SHOWN BELOW. SUCH
FIELD OFFICE MAY NOT BE USED FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE, AND MAY
NOT BE LEASED OR RENTED TO OTHERS. PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT NO

SUCH FIELD OFFICE SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OR MOVED UPON
ANY LOT IN SAID SUBDIVISION UNTIL A PERMIT THEREFORE
SHALL HAVE BEEN OBTAINED FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS. SAID PERMIT MAY BE RENEWED BY SUCH DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC WORKS ONE TIME AFTER THE ISSUANCE OF THE
ORIGINAL PERMIT FOR A PERIOD OF NOT TO EXCEED ONE
ADDITIONAL YEAR.
°(E) DURING THE COURSE OF DEVELOPMENT OF NEW SUBDIVISIONS
AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXPEDITING THE CONSTRUCTION OF
HOUSES THEREIN INDIVIDUAL BUILDERS MAY STOCK PILE LUMBER
AND OTHER BUILDING MATERIALS WITHIN THE SUBDIVISION FOR
A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR WITH SUCH FENCING OR SHELTER AS
MAY BE CONSIDERED NECESSARY TO PROTECT .SAME FROM THE
ELEMENTS OR VANDALISM; PROVIDEDI HOWEVER THAT NO SUCH
STORAGE AREA SHALL BE ESTABLISHED UNTIL A PERMIT THEREFOR
SHALL HAVE BEEN OBTAINED FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS. SAID PERMIT MAY BE RENEWED ONE TIME BU SUCH
DEPARTMENT AFTER THE ISSUANCE OF THE ORIGINAL PERMIT FOR
A PERIOD OF NOT TO EXCEED SIX (6) ADDITIONAL MONTHS.
SECTION 2. THE NECESSITY FOR PROVIDING A TIME LIMIT ON SUB-
DIVISION DEVELOPMENT SALES OFFICES AND FOR PROVIDING FOR USE OF AREAS
IN A SUBDIVISION BEING DEVELOPED FOR TEMPORARY STORAGE OF BUILDING
MATERIALS FOR LIMITED TIMES CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE
PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS
INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE
SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCILS AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH
EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXISTS HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF
SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE
OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL
FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGES IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER - RULE -O
R REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLU-
TIOR SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCILS 1. THEREFORE. HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER'ROLE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO-
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
