BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL CP THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION i. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, a contract with
J. R. O'Bryant Concrete Contractor, Inc., to construct an all purpose concrete
slab at the Elgin Park in the City of Corpus Christi in accordance with plans
and specifications submitted, for the sum of $1,780.00, payable out of Fund
No. 102, Budget Code 502, as set out in the plans, specifications and contract
documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made
a part hereof by reference, and according to the bid of J. R. O'Bryant Concrete
Contractor, Inc., opened on the 19th day of February, 19589 the said bid of
J. R. O'Bryant Concrete Contractor, Inc., being the lowest and most advantageous
to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. The necessity for immediately constructing the all
purpose concrete slab, as described in Section 1 hereof, creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of 'ode
Charter rule providing that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having de-
clared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested that such
Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING.ORDINANCE� A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE
SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLU-
TION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; Iy THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO -
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
