Smith, Mayor, W. J. Roberts, l B. E. Bigler, j } Manuel P. Maldonado, Commissioners, Arthur R. James, Charlie J. Aills, Odell Ingle, T. Ray Aring, City Secretary, I with the following absent: Con- stituting a quorum, at which time the following among other business was transacted: Commissioner introduced a proposed resolution and made motion t tit be adopted. The motion was seconded by Commissions The motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution prevail" by the following vote: AYES: Commissioners Roberts, Bigler, Maldonado, James, Aills and Ingle and Mayor Smith. The resolution as adopted is as follows: RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEARS, EAERCISING TER CITY'S OPTION TO REDZZM CERTAIN OUTSTANDING GENERAL OBLI- GATION BOSS OF THE CITY, AND PROVID33FG FOR NOTICE THEREOF. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, has heretofore passed ordinances authorizing the issuance of the follow• ing described bonds: 5019 � I $500,000.00 City of Corpus Christi, Texas, Street Improvement Bonds, Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941, bear- ing 3%; 2 -3/4% interest, payable semi- an=613,* on June let and December let of each year, and maturing serially through December 1, 1966; $100,000.00 City of Corpus Christi, Texas, Garbage Disposal Plant Bonds, Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941, bearing 3%; 2 -3/4% interest, payable semi - annually on June 1st and December let of each year, and maturing serially through December 1, 1966; $100,000.00 City of Corpus Christi, Texas, Park System Improvement Bonds, Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941, bearing.3 %; 2 -3/4% interest, payable semi - annually on June let and December let of each year, and maturing serially through December 1, 1966; $500,000.00 City of Corpus Christi, Texas, Hospital Bonds, Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941, bearing 3%; 2 -3/4% interest, payable semi-annually on June lot and December let of each year, and maturing serially through December 1, 1966; $150,000.00 City of Corpus Christi, Texas, Fire Station Bonds, Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941, bearing 3%; 2-3/4$ interest, payable semi - annually on June 1st and December lot of each year, and maturing serially through December 1, 1966; $50,000.00 City of Corpus Christi Airport Im- provement and Drainage Bonds, Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941, bearing 3%; 2 -3/4% interest, payable semi - annually on June let and December 1st of each year, and maturing serially through December 1, 1966; $325,000.00 City of Corpus Christi, Texas, Sanitary and Storm Sever Improvement and Extension Bonds, Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941, bearing 3%; 2 -3/4% Interest, payable semi - annually on June 1st and December let of each year, and maturing serially through December 1, 1966; $200,000.00 City of Corpus Christi, Texas, Waterworks. Improvement Bonds, Serjss 1941, dated December 1, 1941, bearing 3%; 2-3/4% interest, payable semi - annually on June 1st and December lot of each year, and maturing serially through December 1, 1966; option of prior payment retained in all of said bonds on December 1, 1956, or on any interest payment date thereafter; and WHERSAS, said bonds were duly approved by the Attorney General of the State of Texas, were registered by the Comptroller of Public Accounts of the State of Texas and were sold and delivered in accordance with law; and WHM=o the City now has an option, (effective June 1, 1958), to redeem at a price of par and accrued interest certain outstanding bonds of each of the above described issues; and WHEREAS, it is considered and adjudged to be to the beat interest of the City that said bonds be called for redemption; BE IT RESOLVED BY nX CITr COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TE M : 1. Funds will be available at the Corpus Christi State National Bank, Corpus Christi, Texas, to pay for said bonds and accrued interes on the date named. In the event said bonds are not presented for redemption, they shall thereafter cease to bear interest from and after the date so fixed for redemption. ! 3. The City Secretary is hereby directed to give notice of intention to redeem said bonds in the following manner: by publication of such notice in a daily newspaper of general circulation published in the I City of Corpus Christi, once a week for four consecutive weeks, the date of the first publication being not less than Thirty (30) days prior to the date fixed for redemption. 4. That the WOW and City Secretary are hereby directed to do any and all things necessary or convenient to carry out the provisions of this resolution. THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO- DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
