AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND
ON BEHALF OF TIE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO RENEW
AND AMEND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED ST-AT-9GOVERN-
MENT FOR WEATHER BUREAU OFFICE SPACE,. S 0 GE PA
AND OTHER FACILITIES, BY T EXECUTION_ OF A THIRD
SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT. IN ACCORDITCE WITH T TERMS
AND PROVISIONS OF SAID AGREEMENT, A COPY OF WHICH IS
ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, THE CITY AND THE WEATHER BUREAU OF THE UNITED STATES OF
AMERICA ENTERED INTO A LEASE AGREEMENT FOR CERTAIN OFFICE AND STORAGE SPACE
LOCATED AT CLIFF MAUS AIRPORT, CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, ON SEPTEMBER 1, 19420
WHICH SAID LEASE AGREEMENT HAS BEEN RENEWED AND EXTENDED BY SUPPLEMENTAL p
AGREEMENT DATED JUNE 30, 1944, AND SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT DATED JANUARY 18,
1956; AND
WHEREAS, SAID LEASE AGREEMENT HAS HERETOFORE NOT PROVIDED THAT
THE SAID WEATHER BUREAU REIMBURSE THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI FOR CONSUMPTION
OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY USED IN ITS OPERATION; AND p
WHEREAS, SAID LEASE AGREEMENT EXPIRES JUNE 30, 1958, UNLESS
RENEWED; AND
WHEREAS, IT IS THE DESIRE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND THE
SAID WEATHER BUREAU THAT THE SAID LEASE AGREEMENT BE EXTENDED TO JUNE 30,
1962;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED,
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO RENEW AND AMEND
CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE WEATHER BUREAU OF THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA PROVIDING FOR OFFICE SPACE, STORAGE SPACE AND
OTHER FACILITIES, BY EXECUTING A THIRD SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT, A COPY OF
WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF.
SECTION 2. THE FACT THAT THE PRESENT LEASE WILL EXPIRE SOON
UNLESS RENEWED CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECES-
SITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSI.ON OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND
THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS

OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY
AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID
CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE
OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN
FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED.
