"1688, EN- TITLED "AN ORDINANCE REGULAT CHAUFFEURS OF ING AND LICENSING TAXICABS, TAXICABS AND TAXICAB STANDS; PROVIDING FOR REVOCATION OF LICENSES; DEFINING CERTAIN TERMS; PROVIDING FOR PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE POLICIES OR DEPOSIT OF CASH OR SECURITIES; PROVIDING LICENSE FEES; CREATING THE OFFICE OF INSPECTOR OF TAXICABS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND PRESCRIBING HIS DUTIES; PROVIDING A PENALTY, AMID THE METHOD OF PROSECUTING - INDIVIDUALS AND OTHERS FOR VIOLATING THIS ORDI ENACTING THE NECESSARY PROVISIONS INCIDENT NT TO THE OBJECT AND PURPOSE OF THIS ORDINANCE WHETHER MENTIONED IN DETAIL IN THE CAPTION OR NOT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES ~ IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY ", AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SUBDIVI- - SION (a) OF SECTION 19 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1688, AS AMENDED, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE RATE N FARE FOR ONE OR AMENDED PERSONS FOR THE FIRST TWO- THIRDS 2R3rds) OF A MILE OR FRACTION THEREOF AND SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE RATE OF FARE FOR ONE OR MORE PERSONS FOR EACH ADDITIONAL ONE -THIRD 1 /3rd) OF A MII E OR FRACTION THEREOF; PROVIDING FOR PUB- ~ LICATION, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Subdivision (a) of Section 19 of Ordinance No 1688, as amended, is hereby amended and hereafter shall read as follows, to -wit :, "SECTION 19. FARES TO BE CHARGED, - (a) The rate of fare for one or more persons shall be forty -five cents (450) for the first two-third s�(2 /3rds) of a mile, or fraction thereof, and ten cents (100)1for each additional one -third (1 /3rd) of a mile, or fraction thereof." SECTION 2.-'-This ordinance shall take effect from and after its'publi- cation one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, which publi- cation shall contain the caption stating in summary the purpose of the ordinance and the penalty for violation thereof, x SECTION 3.
