The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi acting as the agent of and on behalf of the group composed of Nueces County, the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County Navigation District No. 1, the Missouri pacific Railroad Com- pany, the Texas - Mexican Railway Company and the Texas and New Orleans Rail- road Company (a group jointly involved in the Bascule Bridge Relocation Project) to execute a contract with the Texas and New Orleans Railroad Com- pany to purchase 608 linear feet of Head Block 8" x 12" x 16' CP at $0.3875 per linear foot, 16,088 linear feet of Switch Ties 7" x 8" CP at $0.315 per linear foot, 2,442 linear feet of Switch Ties 7" x 9" CP at #0.345 per linear v foot, 13,106 of Ties Track 6" x 8" x 8' CP at $1.97 each, 8,245 of Ties Track 7" x 8" x 3' CO at $2.175 each, 463.2366 net tons of Rail 39,706 L.E. 70# at $65.00 per net ton, 824.1150 net tons of Rail 54,941 L.F. 90# at $65.00 per net ton, 25,5360 net tons of Rail 1,368 L.F. 112# at $65.00 per net ton, 37 Switches 16.5' 90# at $497.48 each 1 Switch 16.5' 112# at $636.69 each, 31 Frogs #7 S.G. 90# at $418.59 each, 4 Frogs #9 S.G. 90# at $479.86 each, 2 Frogs #12 R.B. 90# at $790.13 each 1 Frog #12 R.B. 112# at $790.13 each, 2 Point Drails Com -. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of Bridge Removal and Relocation Bond Fund 230, Project No. 13 -55 -8, the sum of $205,905.95. SECTION 3. The fact that the City, acting as agent for the Nueces County, the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County Navigation District No. 1, the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company, the Texas - Mexican Railway Company and the Texas and New Orleans Railroad Company, can purchase certain rail ROAD EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR THE BASCULE BRIDGE RELOCATION PROJECT FROM THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY AND THE MISSOURI PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY AT PRICES SUBSTANTIALLY LESS THAN IT COULD OBTAIN ELSEWHERE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CITY CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED, AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE �- DAY OF JUNE, 1959- MAYOR THE CITY 0 OR PUS RISTI, TEXAS ATTE q CITY SECRET Y APPROVED AS TO LEGAL FORM JUNE 9, 1959: Ik.Slr CITY ATTORNEY t s J I certify to the City Council that the money required for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated in the above and foregoing ordinance is in the Treasury of the City of Corpus Christi to the credit of No. oe�' °� — 1�,. s9.v�.i` l3 -sue' ��� Fund from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not appropriated for any other purpose. 4' /Director of Finance, LI CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS GENTLEMEN: FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; 1,- THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
