WHEREAS, application has been made to tie City Council for the determining, fixing and regulating of the rat s, fares and charges, and prescribing maximum rates of any person, irms, corporations or associations of persons engaged in the busine s of owning or operating motor busses used for the carrying of passeng rs for hire in or upon the public streets, alleys, and thoroughfares of he City of Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, it has been determined by a survey, study and consider- ation of the problem, that the rates, fares and charges heretofore effective should be changed so as to provide 1.or the rates to be applied upon a zone basis, as such zones are fixed by this ordinance; and WHEREAS, this ordinance is considered as adopted on the basis of present public conditions and with the reservation of further authority to revise and adjust the rates herein provided under the conditions as they exist at the time of the adoption of this ordinance: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION i• That hereafter all persons, firms, corporations or associations of persons engaged in the business of owning or operating motor busses used for the carrying of Passengers for hire in or upon the public streets, alleys and thoroughfares Cf the City of Corpus Christi shall charge for such service a rate or rates not in excess of the followingschedule: (1) All rides originating in one zone nd ijerminating in the same zone without having traveled in a other zone shal pay the base fare of fifteen cents , or seven -(7-_ tokens for Q,ne, Dollar (L,$0f , . (2) For children,'from their six {-6t- to their twelfth (12th) birthdays, all rides originating in one zone and terminating in the same zone without havin traveled in any other zone, the sum of eight ce is (3) All rides originating in one zone a d terminating in the same zone without having traveled Ii any other zone, for students in actual attendance upon iny academic public school or private school or grades lot higher than the public schools of the City of Corpu3 Christi, between o, the hours of seven A. M. to five P. M., and during the months when schools are in actual session, seven and 1 one -half cents '(lljv , provided furt er that such fares for students in actual attendance in such schools may be provided and sold In Sots of twenty (20) for 9ne.} , Do1lai�j+- II (l!} For children under the age of ',Ii-,I'x years, when accom- panyirig a fare paying passenger, there shall be no charge. i i (5) Transfers shall be issued to all p trons of the line or lines of said utility company, bet een all routes of said utility company, without additiona charged; provided that should said passenger, while sing such vehicle cross a zone line the fare shall b increased five cents (5¢)for each zone line crossed whi a making such ride. SECTION 2. The City of Corpus Christi i hereby divided into zones as hereinafter provided in Section 3 hereof, a d each and every ride of each and every passenger commencing in one zone and crossing any zone line, as hereinafter fixed,.shall be subject to the additional charge herein provided if and when a zone line is crossed, and in the event more than one zone line is crossed the additional charge for each line crossed on such ride shall be according to the follows g schedule: Base fare (one zone as provided in Adults Half School Section 1 of this ordinance) IV 8¢ 7?¢ Ride into two zones *20X 11 Ride into three zones *% 1WI 7 Ride into four zones .s30¢ 16 7 Students, as defined above, qualified to ride for student fare shall ride for any trip whether one or m re zones for one zone rate. Reduced fare tokens may be used for case fare. Two tokens will be accepted in lieu 4f 30¢ fare. SECTION 3. A map of the City of Corpus 4hristl is marked 'Exhibit A° and attached hereto, showing the division of t e City of Corpus Christi and territory surrounding the City Limits into Zones One, Two, Three and Four, respectively, as shown on said map. The beginning and ending of all zones have been placed between bus stops to prevent misunderstanding as to what zone a bus stop is in. Zone # That area extending beyond the Zone #3 boundary, as described above. SECTION 4 Any discrepancy, interpretat on or clarification of the provisions herein shall be fixed by written st tement of the Director of Public Utilities of the City of Corpus Christi and such ruling shall become a part of this ordinance if and when so made, unless an appeal in writing from such ruling by any person dissati fled therewith is filed with the City Secretary within seven (7) days rom the date of issuance of such ruling, and in the event such appeal i filed the City Council shall, at its next regular meeting following t e date of the filing of such appeal, or at such other date to which su h hearing may be postponed by the City Council, proceed to hear all perso s interested in such matter and who desire to be heard, and render he decision of such Council, modifying, adopting or reversing the decision f the Director of Public Utilities. SECTION 5: This ordinance shall become ffective upon final passage hereof. SECTION 6.
