HomeMy WebLinkAbout09905 ORD - 08/26/1970• vMP:8/26/70 • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 9587 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE PERMITTING, FOR THE SIX MONTH EXTENSIONS FROM AUGUST 12, 1970, FOR MOBILE HOMES TO BE PLACED ON OWNER - OCCUPIED RESIDENTIAL LOTS OCCUPIED BY THE OWNER OR HIS IMMEDIATE FAMILY WHO WERE RESIDENTS OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AT THE TIME HURRICANE CELIA ARRIVED IN THIS CITY; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE ND. 9857, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON AUGUST 12, 1970, BE AMENDED BY THE ADDITION OF A PARAGRAPH THERETO SO AS TO HEREAFTER READ AS FOLLOWS: "SECTION 1. THAT FOR THE ENSUING SIX MONTHS FROM THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE, MOBILE HOMES MAY BE PLACED ON OWNER- OCCUPIED RESI- DENTIAL LOTS FOR OCCUPANCY BY THE OWNER AND THE MEMBERS OF HIS IMMEDIATE FAMILY WHO WERE RESIDENTS OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AT THE TIME HURRICANE CELIA STRUCK THE CITY. SAID PERMIT SHALL TERMINATE AT THE EXPIRATION OF SIX MONTHS. "PROVIDED THAT THE CITY BUILDING OFFICIAL, UPON APPLICATION BY AN OWNER - OCCUPANT, PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION OF THE AFORESAID SIX -MONTH PERIOD, MAY GRANT ONE RENEWAL OF SUCH OCCUPANCY FOR AN ADDITIONAL SIX -MONTH CONTIN- UOUS PERIOD IN THE EVENT THE OWNER - OCCUPANT SHOWS THAT WORK IS UNDERWAY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE ON THE OWNERS PROPERTY, SCHEDULED FOR COMPLETION IN SAID RENEWAL PERIOD." EXCEPT AS HEREIN PROVIDED, ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH IN ORDINANCE ND. 9857 SHALL REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT. SECTION 2. PUBLICATION SHALL BE MADE ONE TIME IN THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, WHICH PUBLICATION SHALL CONTAIN THE CAPTION STATING IN SUBSTANCE THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO IMMEDIATELY ENACT THE HEREINABOVE PROVIDED CONDITIONS AND PROVISIONS CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDI- NANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY 0905 • TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICATION, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE 1(D 70..,DAY OF AUGUST, 1970.
