HomeMy WebLinkAbout10308 ORD - 06/16/1971AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 FOR $10,557 TO THE CONTRACT WITH ASPHALT PAVING AND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR MC BRIDE LANE, LEOPARD STREET TO AGNES STREET, TO ADD 5% LIME 7" THICK TO AN AREA 16' WIDE FROM STATION 8 +50 TO STATION 41 +00 ON THE EAST SIDE AND FROM STATION 23 +00 TO STATION 41 +00 ON THE WEST SIDE; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND $7,500, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220 -70 -109, SUPPLEMENTING CONTIN- GENCY FUNDS APPROPRIATED PREVIOUSLY BY ORDI -° NANCE NO. 10,114; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That'the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to execute Change Order No. 2 for $10,557 to the contract with Asphalt Paving and Construction Company for the improvement of McBride Lane, Leopard Street to Agnes Street, to add 5% lime 7" thick to an area 16' wide from Station 8 +50 to Station 41 +00 on the East side and from Station 23 +00 to Station 41 +00 on the West side, applicable to Project No. 220 -70 -109. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of No. 220 Street Bond Fund $7,500, applicable to Project No. 220 -70 -109, supplementing contingency funds appropriated pre- viously by Ordinance No. 10,114. SECTION 3. That the necessity to authorize the execution of the above Change Order No. 2, and appropriate the necessary funds therefor at the earliest possible date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or reso- lution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this 16308 J ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 16th day of June, 1971. West side of roadway, only to receive additional stabilization from approximately Sta. 23 +00 to Ste. 41 +00, East Side of Roadway from Sta. 8 +50 to Ste. 41 +00. Additional base to begin one foot back of curb line and extend sixteen (16) feet into roadway. Estimated Increase: 5,050 x 16 x 7 x $o.84 = $10,557.00 NOTE: Actual measurements to be made by inspectors in field and final adjustments to be made at the end of project. ADD $10,557.00 DEDUCT Why was this change necessary? (If left off the plans and specifications, explain why.) Excessive wet condition of east and west ditch line „which has remained wet for years to a depth of 6 to 10 feet requires that this area be bridged with extra stabilization of the roadway to ensure against excessive failures & settlement after the street is complete. How can similar changes be avoided in the future?
