HomeMy WebLinkAbout10427 RES - 08/18/1971BT:JKH:8 -18-71 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO MAKE APPLICATION UNDER THE EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT ACT OF 1971 OF PUBLIC LAW 92 -514 FOR A FEDERAL GRANT TO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT FOR UNEMPLOYED PERSONS IN NEEDED PUBLIC SERVICES; AND A DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, PUBLIC LAW 92 -54 PROVIDES FOR THE MAKING OF GRANTS BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO LOCAL PUBLIC BODIES TO ASSIST THEM IN GENERATING NEW EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND IMPROVE LEVELS OF LIVING; AND WHEREAS, THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI DESIRES TO APPLY FOR SUCH GRANT: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE AND TO FILE SUCH APPLICATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND TO FURNISH SUCH DOCUMENTS AS MAY BE REQUIRED BY SAID DEPARTMENT, AND TO ACT AS THE AUTHORIZED CORRESPONDENT OF THE APPLICANT. SECTION 2. He has the authority by statute, or will have authority by agreement, to require the sub - agents and employ- ing agencies receiving finds, to adhere to conditions and requirements established for the use of the funds granted under PL 92_ 54, 3. Funds requested herein do not exceed ninety (90) percent of the cost of carrying out the program proposed in this application, and the remaining ten (10) percent will be provided in accordance with section 55.16 of the regulations.
