AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE PLATTING ORDINANCE, NO. 4168, AS AMENDED,
SO AS TO REQUIRE ONE -FOOT CONTOURS ON BOTH THE PRE-
LIMINARY AND FINAL PLAT IN AREAS OF 12 -FOOT OR LESS
ELEVATION AND TO REQUIRE A NOTE TO BE PLACED ON THE
PLAT RESTRICTING RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES BELOW ELEVA-
TION 12 FEET MEAN TIDE; PROVIDING A SEVERANCE CLAUSE;
AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 4168, commonly referred to as The
Platting Ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi, passed and approved by
the City Council on March 23, 1955, as amended, be and the same is hereby
amended by amending Section III, Procedure and Flat Requirements, by adding
the following sentence to Subsection (1) of Section B, Preliminary Plat:
"Contours at 1 -foot intervals shall be required when any area within the plat
is at a 12 -foot or less elevation."
SECTION 2. That Section III, Procedure and Plat Requirements, of
the Platting Ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi, be amended so as to
add a new Subsection (f -1) to Section C, Final Plat, reading as follows:
"(f -1) The plat shall denote 2 -foot contour lines when any
area within such plat is at a 12 -foot mean tide level or less as established
by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey.
"If the plat of land at 12 -foot mean tide level or less is within
the corporate limits of the City of Corpus Christi, then a note shall be
placed on the plat restricting residdntial structures below the 12 -foot
eleyation,°
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,•
clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid by final
judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any valid
provisions of this or any other ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi to
which these rules and regulations relate.
SECTION 4. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this

ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.

SECTION 2. The necessity to immediately amend the Platting
Ordinance as hereinabove provided creates a public emergency and an impera-
tive public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of
the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such public emergency and neces-
sity to exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its paseRe and publica-
tion, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of l T
