RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Council is in receipt of a petition from the

Leathers Residents Association requesting assistance for the denial of
a
an on- premise beer and wine license for the business establishment located
at 1814 Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned establishment is located adjacent to
the T. C. Ayers Municipal Swimming Pool; and
WHEREAS, said establishment is in close proximity to the Bethune
Day Nursery and the D. N. Leathers Housing Center; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi is of
the opinion that the issuance of an on- premises beer license to this
establishment will not be in the best interest of the public and would
instruct the City staff to not certify an application for a license if such
instructions were within its authority:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
1. That the County Judge of the County of Nueces and the Alcoholic
Beverage Commission, State of Texas, are hereby requested to do such things
as they may have at their disposal or in their discretion may do to deny
issuance of a license for on- premise beer and wine consumption to said
business establishment.
2. The necessity to immediately express the opinion of the City
Council, as the elected officials of the City of Corpus Christi, urging
the denial of an on- premises beer and wine license to a business establish-
ment at 1814 Buffalo creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and
necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the said Charter
rule and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its

passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the 19Vb day of
1972.
