AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 10852, PASSED AND APPROVED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON MAY 10, 1972, BY AMENDING
THE CONTRACT AUTHORIZED THEREIN, BETWEEN THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND THE COASTAL BEND COUNCIL OF
GOVERNMENTS, FOR ASSIGNMENT OF THREE WORK STUDY
STUDENTS SPONSORED THROUGH A PROGRAM FUNDED THROUGH
HUD FOR SEVEN MONTHS TO TERMINATE OCTOBER 31, 1972,
BY ADDING A NEW ITEM TO THE SAID CONTRACT, TO BE
NUMBERED ITEM 21, TO PROVIDE FOR JOINT REVIEW AND
AGREEMENT ON STUDENT WORK ASSIGNMENTS WITH THE
COASTAL BEND COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS AND THE PARTICI-
PATING UNIVERSITY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 10852, passed and approved
by the City Council on May 10, 1972, be and the same is hereby amended
by amending the contract authorized therein, between the City of Corpus
Christi and the Coastal Bend Council of Governments, for assignment of
three work study students sponsored through a program funded through HUD
for seven months to terminate October 31, 1972, by adding a new item to
the said contract, to be numbered Item 21, reading as follows:
"21. The Contractor agrees to participate in joint review and
agreement on student work assignments with the Coastal Bend Council of
Governments and the participating University. Such review and agreement
will include mutual acceptance and periodic monitoring of student work
activities to assure that work is eligible under Section 701 of the Housing
Act of 1954 and will benefit the student's training in planning and
management."
SECTION 2. Except as herein provided, the terms and conditions
of Ordinance No. 10852 and the contract authorized by said ordinance shall
be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. The necessity to make the hereinabove described
amendment to the contract heretofore authorized between the City of Corpus
Christi and the Coastal Bend Council of Governments creates a public
emergency and an.imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution

shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor
having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested
the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED,

WHEREAS, on the 25th day of May, 1972, an agreement was entered
into by and between the City of Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend Council
of Governments; and
WHEREAS, said agreement was for the purpose of the Coastal Bend
Council of Governments engaging the City of Corpus Christi to render
technical or professional services described in said agreement, in connection
with an undertaking which is to be partially financed under Section 701
of the Housing Act of 1954; and
WHEREAS, it is mutually agreeable to the parties hereto to amend
the aforesaid agreement so as to add an item, to be numbered 21, reading
as follows:
"21. The Contractor agrees to participate in joint review
and agreement on student work assignments with the Coastal Bend Council
of Governments and the participating University. Such review and agreement
will include mutual acceptance and periodic monitoring of. student work
activities to assure that work is eligible under Section 701 of the Housing
Act of 1954 and will benefit the student's training in planning and management."
Except as herein provided, the terms and conditions of the
agreement heretofore entered into on the 25th day of May, 1972 by and
betweenthe parties hereto shall be and remain in full force and effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the City of Corpus Christi and the Coastal
Bend Council of Governments have executed this agreement this the &,I,

REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL. -
