APPRAISAL OF 89 CITY BUILDINGS TO ESTABLISH VALUES FOR FIRE AND EXTENDED COVERAGE INSURANCE POLICIES, A COPY OF WHICH CONTRACT IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A "; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: O SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with General Adjustment Bureau, Inc., for a fee not to exceed $7,455, to prepare a value appraisal of 89 City buildings to establish values for fire and extended coverage insurance policies, a copy of which contract is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A ". SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize the execution of the aforesaid contract at the earliest practicable date creates a public emerge-icy and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordi- nance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this thec2 I-dIt day of February, 1973. PROVIDES VALUE APPRAISALS FOR FIRE INSURANCE PURPOSES NATIONW DE AND THEIR VALUES ARE ACCEPTED BY INSURANCE COMPANIES; AND WHEREAS, GENERAL ADJUST 64'I BUREAU, INC. HAS PROPOSED TO PREPARE A VALUE APPRAISAL OF EIGFITY -NINE (89) CITY -OWNED BUILDINGS UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUM- STANCES FOR A FEE NOT TO EXCEED SEVEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY -FIVE DOLLARS ($7,455); AND WHEREAS, THE INSURANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF THE CITY HAS CAREFULLY STUDIED THE AFOREMENTIONED PROPOSAL AND RECOMMENDS THE CITY ACCEPT SAID PROPOSAL. Box 9277 Corpus Christi, Texas 78408 Re: City Value Appraisal G Dear Mr. Zick: We recently inspected a number of the city owned properties, in order to present a bid to complete a Value Appraisal on those structures. I find that we can appraise the city properties, excluding the new buildings, for a fee of $7,455.00. GeneraL Adjustment Bureau, Inc. is a nationwide organization. with offices to serve every city in the United States. We also have a number of foreign branches and the firm has been in existence since 1885. We provide claims adjustment and value appraisal services to the insurance industry, and the general public. We also provide a host of other special services to the insurance industry. As such, ours is the largest firm of it's type in existence, and our reputation is unequaled by any firm. You could probably call any insurance company in this nation and find that they are aware of our organization, and it's reputation. Further, you would also find that the majority of those insurance companies have utilized our services, at one time or another. Our Value Appraisal Service is accepted by the Insurance Industry, the Federal Government, and a number of states and municipalities. We recently furnished several thousand appraisals for the SmaLL Business Administration. In addition, we provided the Value Appraisal Services for a large number of school districts, churches, factories, and private homes. We recently completed the Livingston Independent.SchooL District, in Livingston, Texas. Locally, we have just concluded a Value Appraisal for the properties of Crystal Oil Company and the private homes of Mr. O.D. Edwards and Mr. Sam Lightner. We are currently preparing Vatue Appraisals for a number of churches in Sinton, Texas. The persons available would include Bill Wiltshire, Jack Lockhart, A.R. Marlowe, Robert Prinz, and myself. Bill Wiltshire is District Manager for this firm, and he supervises a 3 -state area. He is a qualified value appraisal instructor and is actively engaged in this instruction at the present time. He has experience-in excess of 20 years. Mr. Jack Lockhart is a Regional Manager for our firm, supervises approximately 16 separate branch offices. This geniieman has in excess of 26 years experience. Mr. A.R. Marlowe, who is one of our Senior Representatives has over 35 years experience. He is currently based in our Houston, Texas Office. I am the Manager of our Corpus Christi Branch Office, and Mr. Robert Prinz is a member of this staff. Mr. Prinz performs the majority of our local appraisals. We each have 10 years experience.
