MINUTES
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
DECEMBER 28, 1987
8:00 a.m.

City Secretary Armando Chapa
Mayor Betty Turner called the meeting to order in the Council Chamber of
City Hall.
City Secretary Chapa called the roll and verified that the necessary quorum
of the Council and the required charter officers were present to conduct the
meeting.
* Council Member Guerrero arrived at 8:04 a.m.
* Council Member Strong arrived at 8:10 a.m.
The Council went into closed session for the purpose of private
consultation between the City Council and its attorneys regarding advice with
respect to pending litigation Case No. 87-6593-F - Mendez Vs. City.
The Council reconvened in open session at 8:50 a.m.
A motion was made by Council Member Pruet to recess the Council Meeting;
seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Rhodes and passed unanimously.

The Council Meeting was reconvened at 12:00 noon on December 29, 1987 and
immediately went into closed session for the same purpose as above. All Council
Members were present.
The Council reconvened in open session at 12:50 p.m. on December 29, 1987 and
recessed the Special Council Meeting subject to meeting in closed session again
for the same purpose at City Hall or Nueces County Courthouse subject to trial
proceedings as determined by the Council.

The Council reconvened to meet in closed session at 5:34 p.m. December 29,
1987, at the Nueces County Courthouse to discuss settlement offers with respect
to the above case and recessed at 5:35 p.m. All Council Members were present.
The Special Council Meeting was reconvened at 3:05 p.m. on January 5, 1988
and immediately adjourned by a motion made by Mayor Pro Tem Rhodes; seconded by
Council Member Strong and passed unanimously; Guerrero absent.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of the
Minutes of the Special Council Meeting of the City of Corpus Christi of December
28, 1987, which were approved by the City Council on January 19, 1988.
