SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
CITY HALL - COUNCIL CHAMBERS
JANUARY 9, 1988

Mayor Betty Turner called the meeting to order in the Council Chamber of
City Hall.
City Secretary Armando Chapa called the roll and verified that the
necessary quorum of the Council and the required Charter Officers were present
to conduct the meeting.
A motion was made by Council Member Pruet that the Council convene in
closed meeting pursuant to Article 6252-17, Section 2, of V.A.C.S. to interview
applicants for the Council Member District 1 position. The motion was seconded
by Mayor Pro Tem Rhodes and passed unanimously.
The Council then convened in closed session to interview candidates.
* Council Members Linda Strong, Mary Pat Slavik and Leo Guerrero arrived at
the meeting shortly after 9:05 a.m.

Mayor Turner reconvened the Special Council Meeting in the Council Chambers
at 4:55 p.m.

A motion was made by Council Member Pruet that the City Council approve a
Resolution appointing Mr. Frank Schwing, Jr. as Council Member of District One
under the authority of Article 2, Section 13, of the City Charter. The motion
was seconded by Council Member Guerrero. City Secretary Chapa polled the
Council for their votes on the following Resolution:
RESOLUTION NO. 20165:
APPOINTING FRANK SCHWING, JR., TO THE CITY COUNCIL TO FILL THE VACANCY IN
THE DISTRICT ONE POSITION, TO SERVE UNTIL THE NEXT REGULAR CITY ELECTION.
The foregoing Resolution was passed by the following vote: Turner, Rhodes,
Berlanga, Guerrero, Moss, Pruet, Slavik, and Strong voting, "Aye."
There being no further business to come before the Council, on motion by
Mayor Pro Tem Rhodes, seconded by Council Member Pruet and passed unanimously,
the Special Council Meeting was adjourned at 4:56 p.m., January 9, 1988.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of the
Minutes of the Special Council Meeting of the City of Corpus Christi of January
9, 1988, which were approved by the City Council on January 19, 1988.
