HomeMy WebLinkAbout11798 ORD - 11/21/1973• lst:jkh:hb°11/19/73: • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN EXTENSION AND AMENDMENT AGREEMENT OF THE CONTRACT HERETOFORE ENTERED INTO BE- TWEEN THE CITY AND THE CORPUS CHRISTI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1973, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROMOTING ADDI- TIONAL CONVENTIONS AND TO BETTER SERVE THE CONVENTIONS WHICH ARE AND WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR CORPUS CHRISTI, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE EXTENSION AND AMENDMENT AGREE- MENT, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, an Extension and Amendment Agreement of the contract heretofore entered into between the City and the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce for the year ending September 30, 1973, for the purpose of promoting addi- tional conventions and to better serve the conventions which are and will be scheduled for Corpus Christi, all as more fully set forth in the Extension and Amendment Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A ". SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $27,500 out of the Hotel -Motel Tax Fund to support the funding of this contract. SECTION 3. The necessity to enter into the aforesaid agreement at the earliest practicable date in order to carry out the intentions of the parties in the promotion of con- ventions for the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three 11798 several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of,�;_e / , 1973. ATTEST: AL- Cit Secret L - —/ APPROVED: DAY OF • r / Li MAYOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS THE STATE OF TEXAS X COUNTY OF NUECES I The agreement dated the 24th day of October, 1968, between the City of Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, as amended under date of December 13, 1971, is hereby extended for a period of twelve (12) months from the expiration date thereof of said contract, to -wit: September 30, 1973, until September 30, 1974, provided, however, that paragraph 1 of Section B, providing for reimbursement not to exceed Twenty -Five Thousand Dollars, is amended to the effect that the City will compensate said Chamber for professional services in the amount not to exceed Twenty -Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($27,500). Except as herein expressly provided, all other provisions of the said October 24, 1968, agreement heretofore entered into are hereby continued in full force and effect.
