HomeMy WebLinkAbout12443 ORD - 01/22/1975• JRR:vp:1/21/75:1st • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PARCELS 42 THROUGH 45, BLOCK 81, BEACH PORTION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,_,FOR THE BAYFRONT SCIENCE PARK EXPANSION PRO- JECT; APPROPRIATING AND REAPPROPRTATING OUT OF THE NO. 123 GENERAL REVENUE SHARING FUND $49,925, TO SUPPLEMENT FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED BY ORDINANCE NO. 11814, PASSED AND APPROVED ON NOVEMBER 28, 1973, FOR ACQUISI- TION OF PARCELS 42 THROUGH 45, FOR A TOTAL COMPENSATION OF $178,500, OF WHICH AMOUNT $177,750 IS FOR LAND ACQUISI- TION AND $750 IS FOR INCIDENTAL EXPENSES RELATED TO CLOSING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute the necessary documents for acquisition of Parcels 42 through 45, Block 81, Beach Portion of the City of Corpus Christi, from the owners, Harvie Branscomb, Jr. and William S. Whittet, and Harvie Branscomb, Jr. and William S. Whittet, Trustees, for the Bayfront Science Park Expansion Project. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated and reappropriated out of the No. 123 General Revenue Sharing Fund $49,925 to supplement fiends previously appropriated by Ordinance No. 11814, passed and approved on November 28, 19732 for acquisition of Parcels 42 through 45, for a total compensation of $178,500, of which amount $177,750 is for land acquisition and $750 is for incidental expenses related to closing. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize at the earliest practicable date execution of documents necessary to acquire the aforesaid parcels and to appropriate sums adequate to compensate the owners of the parcels in order that the Bayfront Science Park Expansion Project may continue without delay creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shell be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force 12443 and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the g= y of January, 1975.
