HomeMy WebLinkAbout12534 RES - 03/12/1975A RESOLUTION RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI'S 1975 ANNUAL PROGRAM OF PROJECTS FOR SECTION 5 FUNDS,, AS PROVIDED BY THE URBAN MASS TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1964, AS AMENDED, AND AS PARTICULARLY AMENDED BY THE NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE ACT OF 1974; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Corpus Christi Urbanized Area; WHEREAS, the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, and as particularly amended by the National Transportation Assistance Act of 1974 (THE ACT), requires Metropolitan Planning Organizations to en- dorse annually programs for Section 5 funds in their respective urban- ized areas; k WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, as the only operator of a public transit system in the urbanized area, has submitted the 1975 annual program of projects for Section 5 funds as required by THE ACT; and, WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization has reviewed the above program and has found the projects to be consistent with the current transit development program and the comprehensive planning pro -`: 1 cess; I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Corpus Christi, as the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Corpus Christi Urbanized Area, hereby endorses the City of Corpus Christi's 1975 ' annual program of4projects for Section 5 funds. BE'IT FURTHER RESOLVED that to endorse the City's 1975 annual program of projects for Section 5 funds as provided by the Urban Mass Transportation Actiof 1964, as amended, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested r the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution be passed 12534. finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the 12th day of March, 1975.
