Mayor Turner called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. in the
Council Chambers of City Hall and stated that the purpose of the meeting
was to interview applicants for a vacant position as Municipal Court
Judge, noting that the interviews will be conducted in closed session.
City Secretary Armando Chapa called the roll and verified that a
quorum of the Council and the sired Charter Officers were present to
conduct the meeting.
The City Council then went into executive session to interview the
applicants and to disnss the appointment of an individual to fill the
vacant Municipal Court Judge position under the authority of The Texas
Open Meetings Act, Article 6252-17, Section 2(g).
During the executive session, the following applicants were
interviewed: (1) Donald Alex, (2) Clyde Jackson, (3) Anne Marshall, (4)
Mary Alice Reyes, (5) Nelda Rodriguez, and (6) Philip Waltz.
Mayor Turner reconvened the Special Council Meeting at 11:00 a.m.
and announced that the meeting would be recessed until 2:00 p.m. at
which time an announcement would be made.

Mayor Turner reconvened the Special Council Meeting at 2:05 p.m.
A motion was made by Council Member Galindo, seconded by
Council Member Martin and passed unanimously to appoint Nelda Rodriguez
to the position of Municipal Court Judge for a term coterminous with
that of the City Council and at the entry level salary for this
position. (Motion #M90-059)

Mayor Tomer then administered the Oath of Office to Nelda
Rodriguez as Municipal Court Judge.
There being no further business to care before the Council, the
Special Council Meeting was adjourned at 2:08 p.m., March 6, 1990.
