AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3658, AS AMENDED, BY
CHANGING CERTAIN JOB CLASS TITLE AND CREATING
CERTAIN POSITIONS BY AMENDING SECTION 4 THEREOF;
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 8127, AS AMENDED, BY
AMENDING SECTION 1, SUBSECTION (a), SO AS TO
CHANGE HOURLY RATE FOR CERTAIN POSITIONS; PRO-
VIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; PROVIDING A SEVERANCE
CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
SECTION 1. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 3658 be and the
same is hereby amended by changing the class title and class code as
follows: FROM
JOB CLASS GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE AND CLERICAL GRADE

SECTION 2. That Section 1, Subsection (a), of Ordinance No.
8127, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by changing the hourly
rate for the following position: 'FROM
CLASS CODE CLASS TITLE - HOURLY RATE
171 Work Experience Trainee $2.10 per hour
TO
CLASS CODE CLASS TITLE HOURLY RATE
171 Work Experience Trainee $2.30 per hour
SECTION 3. The provisions of this ordinance shall take effect
and be in effect from and after its passage.
SECTION 4. If for any reason any section, paragraph, sub-
division, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be
held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent
jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite

intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect
for its purpose.
SECTION 5. The fact that there is a need to maintain at all
times an efficient administration of City affairs creates a public emergency
and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having
declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the
suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be
in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO

ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
