HomeMy WebLinkAbout13608 RES - 02/09/1977THE STATE OF TEXAS ,COUNTY OF NUECES CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI On this the 9th day of February, 1977, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, convened in Regular Meeting, with the following members of said Council and officials of said City present, to -wit: Jason Luby, Mayor Bill Tipton, DDS, Mayor Pro-Tem. Eduardo de Ases Ruth Gill Bob Gulley Councilmen Gabe Lozano, Sr. Edward L. Sample R. Marvin Townsend, City Manager J. Bruce Aycock, City Attorney A Harold F. Zick, Director of Finance /h-R fret -- -- Q City Secretary Alton White, Jr., Tax Assessor - Collector with the following absent:�� , constituting a quorum, at which time the following among other business was transacted: presented for the consideration of the Council a resolution. The resolution was read by the City Secretary. The Mayor presented to the Council a communication in writing pertaining to said proposed resolution, as follows: "Corpus Christi, Texas "TO THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: The public importance and pressing need for the permanent improvements to be constructed by the use of the pro- ceeds of bonds contemplated to be sold pursuant to an offering made by an Official Statement to be authorized, ratified and approved by a resolution create an emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of rules and Charter provisions requiring resolutions to be considered and voted upon at three regular meetings. I, therefore, request that the City Council adopt the proposed resolution authorizing, ratifying and I approving the use of said Official Statement as an emergency measure. You will please consider this request in connection with the resolution which is to be introduced for adoption by the City Council on this subject. The Mayor announced that the resolution has been adopted. The resolution is as follows: RESOLUTION / 6 APPROVING THE FORM OF THE OFFICIAL STATEMENT PERTAINING TO CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, GENERAL IMPROVEMENT BONDS, SERIES 1977, AND AUTHORIZING, RATIFYING AND APPROVING THE OFFICIAL STATEMENT AND THE USE THEREOF IN THE OFFERING AND SALE OF SAID BONDS WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi is authorized to issue and sell its bonds heretofore approved at an elec- Rion held December 9, 1972, all pursuant to the Constitution ,and laws of Texas; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council that ;the Official Statement pertaining to certain of said bonds !designated City of Corpus Christi, Texas, General Improvement ;Bonds, Series 1977, and the use of said Official Statement should be duly authorized, ratified and approved. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: 1. That the Official Statement, including the Official' (Notice of Sale, as set forth herein is hereby approved as to !form and content. 2. That the use of the Official Statement and all addenda, if any, thereto in the offering and sale of said bonds ! i � is hereby authorized, ratified and approved. I 3. Civ. St. Article 6252 -17, as amended.
