HomeMy WebLinkAbout13667 ORD - 03/02/1977• jkh:2- 28 -77; 1st • TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ASPHALT PAVING & CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE COSNER, BONHAM, HAKEL, COMANCHE AND HOUSTON STREET IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $451,000, OF WHICH $263,975 IS OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND, AND $187,025 IS OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL /STATE GRANTS FUND, ACTIVITY 4734, CODE 502, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, $415,075.30 BEING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, $7,000 BEING FOR LABORATORY TESTING TO BE PROVIDED BY GULF COAST TESTING LABORATORY, INC., AND $28,924.70 BEING FOR ENGINEERING, LEGAL ADVERTIS- ING, AND RELATED EXPENSES; OF THE APPROPRIATION FROM THE STREET BOND FUND, $103,375 IS APPLICABLE TO COSNER, BONHAM, HAKEL, AND COMANCHE STREET IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT NO. 220- 72 -1.5, AND $160,600 IS APPLICABLE TO HOUSTON STREET IMPROVEMENTS, NO. 220- 72 -1.8; ESTABLISHING AN ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE IN THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND FROM THE NO. 162 FEDERAL /STATE GRANTS FUND, ACTIVITY 4734, CODE 502, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $187,025; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Asphalt Paving & Construction Company for the Cosner, Bonham, Hakel, Comanche and Houston Street Improvements, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary,all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Paving & Construction Company, opened on the 19th day of January, 1977, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $451,000, of which $263,975 is out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund and $187,025 is out of the No. 162 Federal /State Grants Fund, Activity 4734, Code 502, Community Development Block Grant; of the appropriation $415,075.30 is for the construction contract, $7,000 is for laboratory testing to be provided by Gulf Coast Testing Laboratory, Inc., and $28,924.70 is for engineering, legal advertising, and related expenses. Of the appropriation from the Street Bond Fund, $103,375 is applicable to Cosner, Bonham, Hakel, and Comanche Street Improvements, Project No. 220- 72 -1.5, and $160,600 is applicable to Houston Street Improvements, Project No. 220- 72 -1.8. MICROFILMED 13667 'JUL 0 71980 • An accounts receivable is hereby established in the No. 220 Street Bond Fund from the No. 162 Federal /State Grants Fund, Activity 4734, Code 502, Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $187,025. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the contract and appropriation of the sums as hereinabove set forth in order that the Improvements outlined may be commenced and completed without delay creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspen- sion of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the aAd- day of 1977. , ATTEST: A 0 " Ci Secretary AP VED: DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1977: J.
