HomeMy WebLinkAbout14166 ORD - 02/08/1978jkh:1- 25- 78;lst TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD RULES AND REGULATIONS BY AMENDING ARTICLE FIVE, SECTION 8: RESIGNATION, SO AS TO REQUIRE THAT, FOR ALL RESIGNATIONS RESULTING FROM UNAUTHORIZED ABSENCES OF THREE OR MORE CONSECUTIVE WORK DAYS, WRITTEN NOTIFICATION WILL BE SENT TO THE AFFECTED EMPLOYEE AT THE LAST ADDRESS SHOWN IN THE PERSONNEL RECORDS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CON- FLICT; PROVIDING SEVERANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the Civil Service Board Rules and Regulations be and the same are hereby amended by amending Article Five, SECTION 8: RESIGNATION: to hereafter read as follows: "SECTION 8: RESIGNATION: Notice of resignation of an officer or employee from the classified service shall be filed with the Secretary- Examiner with a copy of the resignation. If in writing, a copy of such resignation shall be acknowledged by the department head and given to the employee. Unauthorized absence from work of a classified employee for a period of three (3) consecutive days or more will be considered by the depart- ment head and the Board as a resignation. Written notice of such action shall be mailed to the employee at the last address shown in the personnel records." SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith be and are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision. clause, phrase, word, or, provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
