HomeMy WebLinkAbout14392 ORD - 07/19/1978JKH:hb:7 /19/78 TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ASPHALT PAVING & CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CON- STRUCTION OF THE FLOUR BLUFF SANITARY SEWER LATERALS SOUTH OF TROPIC ISLES; APPROPRIATING $215,000 OUT OF THE NO. 250 SANITARY SEWER BOND FUND, OF WHICH $200,643.30 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $14,356.70 IS FOR LEGAL ADVERTISING, LABORATORY TESTING, ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING AND INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 250 -77- 10, FLOUR BLUFF LATERALS, SOUTH OF TROPIC ISLES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Asphalt Paving & Construction Company for con- struction of the Flour Bluff sanitary sewer laterals south of Tropic Isles, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Paving & Construction company opened on July 12, 1978, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $215,000 out of the No. 250 Sanitary Sewer Bond Fund, of which $200,643.30 is for the con- struction contract and $14,356.70 is for legal advertising, laboratory testing, additional engineering fees and incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 250- 77 -10, Flour Bluff laterals south of Tropic Isles. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth so that construction of sanitary sewer laterals in Flour Bluff south of Tropic Isles may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency "JUL 0 81980_ 14392 4 and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and e tspassage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the day of 1978.
