HomeMy WebLinkAbout15300 ORD - 01/09/1980r1:1-70-80;lst v AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ASPHALT PAVING & CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE BROADMOOR PARK AREA STREET IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT; APPROPRIATING $850,000, OF WHICH $146,091.27 IS OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND AND $703,908.73 IS OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATES GRANT FUND, ACTIVITY 4741, CODE 502, FOURTH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT $821,493.55 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $28,506.45 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LABORATORY TESTING, INCI— DENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220-77-2.8, BROADMOOR PARK AREA STREET IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Asphalt Paving & Construction Company, for construction of the Broadmoor Park Area Street Improvements Project, all as more fully des- cribed in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Paving & Construction Company, opened on November 21, 1979, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated and reappropriated $850,000 of which $146,091.27 is out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund and $703,908.73 is out of the No. 162 Federal States Grant Fund, Activity 4741, Code 502, Fourth Year Community Development Block Grant $821,493.55 is for the construction contract and $28,506.45 is for additional engineering, laboratory testing, incidental and related expenses. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set -out so that construction of the Broadmoor Park Area Street Improvements Project may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspensionmof the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from MICROFILMED ANG 2 81980, 15300 and gfijer its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the ATTEST: o57t .46224 rJ(i ii 'City Secretary APPROVED: DAY OF J.
