Thank you for forwarding me a copy of Resolution No. 15434 passed by the City Council regarding the Department of Interior (DOI) study on barrier islands. This is a matter of great concern to me and please be assured I will follow developments in this matter very closely. I read the comments proposed by Bill Hennings on the study and thought they were very important and well presented. I have written to DOI and expressed strong opposition to any consideration that might be given to the moderate or high level alternatives addressed in the study. Additionally, I have told them to give your comments very careful consideration. Please be assured that I will do everything possible to preclude any adverse effect on Padre and Mustang Islands resulting from this study or Congressman Burton's proposed legislation on the same subject.
